Problem Details
osu! client can't update or re-install properly. Running the old installer in Repair mode throws an error code 2720: http://puu.sh/wmu0O/f838c6bef9.png. Deleting config files did not help.

Already did that and included the translations to the OP.

Ok then try everything what I'll say:
Restart your PC, restart modem/router, renew IP config, flush DNS.

Are you using a VPN or proxy? If so, disable it.
Otherwise follow the steps below

Method 1: Antiviruses or Firewall
  1. Try checking if your antivirus isn't blocking osu! From connecting
Method 2: IP conflicts
  1. Try turning off your router by unplugging it and wait for 5 minutes before turning it on again.
Method 3: Reset adapter
  1. Try disabling ethernet adapter then enable it again

Method 4: DNS Cache
  1. Try clearing DNS
    1. Open up run (Windows logo + R)
    2. Type cmd and press enter
    3. Type ipconfig /flushdns and press enter

Method 5: Try using a VPN
  1. You can try using a VPN like [lucky:1337]Psiphon[/lucky:1337] and see if it works from there
Just download from the website and open it, after it connects try again.

I think using VPN is not the best way.

Which is why it is the last option

Osu refuses to update! I've tried all the strategies on this forum, and still I run into the problem. Please assist asap! I also can't download new maps while this problem persists. I can't even do online play! At least I can still update maps...
I could go on and on about my problems, but a diagnosis would be best

One more thing: The system I use is Windows XP (no, seriously).
Lacrimosa
osu! doesn't get along with Windows XP lately. t/606972

Please paste the contents of the update.log file, found in the Logs folder inside your osu! folder, here.

What's your diagnosis, Nikos?

It's the same error, the user, whose thread I linked, is experiencing. Give a try to what I've suggested there.

OP here.
Tried everything from flushing DNS cache to rebooting router and Ethernet adapter. Will try VPN later.
Here is update.log: http://puu.sh/wnEDw/0d2c963f74.log
I don't know whether it's needed or not, but here is a link to update_success.log: http://puu.sh/wnEy1/e20e56aa1b.log

As you said before Nikos: "It's the same error, the user, whose thread I linked, is experiencing. Give a try to what I've suggested there."

If you ask me, it was a great idea! Problem is, all it did was speed up my pc a bit. Issue persists. Any ideas? :?: :?: :?:

Does reinstalling with the old installer help, whatsoever? Make sure to backup your files if you're going to reinstall osu!, though.
