I really started playing Osu! ~5 Weeks ago and know I reached a point where I am thinking about how to improve more. I am playing 3,3-3,9* Maps mostly. When I wanna improve, should I try harder Maps with NoFail (4-5*) or should I just work on FCing the 3* Maps with good Acc? Also, I wanna ask, what an average player on my Rank should be able to play. Maybe a look on my Top Ranks will help you giving advice https://osu.ppy.sh/u/10062840 .

Try harder maps. Your accuracy is good on lower maps, and just tryharding for SS on them isn't worth it.
When I was your rank (~2-months ago) I was playing 3.4-4.4* maps a lot.


It's hard to tell what you should do purely based on the top ranks. But just looking at your accuracy there is very little gain for you to still keep playing the slow / low OD / straightforward normal-hard maps.

Start playing 4* more frequently. They feature more and harder patterns and some are a bit more havy on the aim.

You can't really set a standard "average 1k pp play" since everyone develops a different skillset over time. I had good aim for my rank so that map just happened to cater to me, while I was still failing on maps that required finger control or had a higher OD.


For example:

but I still can't FC nor get a good accuracy on this map: https://osu.ppy.sh/s/12026


Even though the latter is way lower rated I just can't tap accurately enough or read decently enough to actually FC it or atleast get 92%+ acc on it.
Try both maps and see where your strengths are. However, the first map is a popular PP map, while Black Lotus is (imo) a pretty tough map for it's difficulty, but seeing your accuracy, maybe Black Lotus is just the right map for you, while Guren might not really fit your playstyle / skillset (aim).


You should still play every kind of map, though. Just try those two so you can see where your strengths are and what you'll have to work on.



TL;DR
Play more 4* maps, try sticking to OD7~ maps. (Maps like Wind god girl are obviously still fine to play, too.) and see to get and play every kind of map, not just the ones that fit your playstyle.

Yeah, play some 4* maps. I'm in a similar position as you and I just go to this beatmap pack listing and download a ton of maps from there.

Chasing for SS is not worth it. I would just push the *rating and sacrifice some accuracy for it. Instead of aiming for 99% accuracy on a 3.3* map you should try to get 98% on a 3.5* map. Get more maps, FC them and then you can come back and improve your 98% accuracy scores.

I strongly recommend you to not fall into that noob trap (you already did) to play HR+DT for easy pp. Play without mods and if you want you can add HD on stuff you are good at. Most 3* maps are really the same, things are getting interesting once you can play 4* maps. Just get the basics down: 98-99% accuracy, triples, doubles, AR8/9 reading and you are pretty much set for 4* maps. You will see that 4* maps have insane variety and some maps have patterns that you see once in a blue moon, but once you are consistent with the basics you will learn lots of new stuff in no time.

like really

dont go for the coolest looking skin but the one that's easiest to read for you
watch youtube vids of replays and find the best one
