You know how in DDR,Stepmania, and a whole slew of rhythm games have these subcategory?
I was wondering if it was possible to simulate that.
For example, let say on my computer I create a file called Touhou in the song directory and then I place all touhou related Beatmaps there. In Osu their would be a category called Touhou that would expand and show all the songs I've placed in.

you can make your own folders in the songs folder and make your own categories,
besides that , id like that option to actually sort by genre

Yes I know that but the category won't show up in Osu! actually.

You can make your beatmap listing sort by folder (it's one of the options).
When you do that, they show up =)

(An option to sort by genre may be implemented at some point)

As mentioned you can create your own folders and put the songs you want in them then search by folder in-game


Anyway denying this as it has been mentioned several times before

Even when the idea is good, you can actually search "Touhou" and every map with Touhou in it's name or tagged with that word will show up, which is pretty much what you're asking.
