So being who I am, I decided to search for a map online to go and favorite it.

The map is called "Flaming Ice"

So I'm all like "let's do the beatmap search at the top of the page."

I look there, and suddenly, the top result isn't that much related to the song. Its not until I look down about 8 maps until the map with the exact same name appears.

So pretty much what I'm thinking is to, instead of organize searches by rank date (or last update or whatever), to sort it by how related it is to your search.

I know its all about "omg play newer maps", but it's kind of weird searching for something and the results not being related that much until later o-o.

inb4 "viewtopic=42803728973" or something.

This is a good idea. If you typed "Flaming Ice" it was probably because that was what you wanted.

I'm going to bump this because I still find this very relevant and it makes me sad inside.

This search button actually does sort by relevancy (I think that's the word you meant, relativity makes little sense):

Of course why the top search feature acts differently is anyone's guess.

Bumping this once more, because it's still an issue that appears with the search function in the top search bar :>

I face this problem by searching all beatmaps and not only ranked ones. This way beatmaps are searched by relevancy.

Makes sense. Would improve finding what you're looking for. Just look at any other search engine.
