When I try to make maps on osu!, the difficulty is intended as Easy, but ends up being 3.5 stars even with the difficulty settings up to an average of 2 points from the left of the settings meter, and 1 point from the hitcircle size meter's left side.

Basically what I intend is a bar/manual input position to set a star level individually to lower problems for the mapper. Believe me, this will be useful in the end if it's implemented.

Chances are if it's becoming 3.5 and you wanted it under 2, you're making it too hard.

This has been asked, and I believe declined before.

Different mappers have different interpretations of what is hard and what isn't, so you'd end up with everybody setting map difficulties to their own standards and it would become a useless measurement. If it's completely standardised, and every map is starred with the same formula, then you can actually theoretically use it as a means of cross-comparison.

But i get you, it does go too high sometimes.

I'm trying to make it as easy as possible while still being playable.

And for the record, I searched for a topic like this. I couldn't find it.

Not exactly the same thing, as this is more generalized and the other one it was restricted to BATs, but was this the "it was mentioned before" you were talking about?

You aren't as making it as easy as possible while still being playable, trust me. Making 1- to 1.5-star Easy difficulties isn't that difficult:

http://osu.ppy.sh/s/33626
http://osu.ppy.sh/b/84099&m=0 (Also, 3-star Normal)
http://osu.ppy.sh/s/23625
http://osu.ppy.sh/s/33428

2.5-3 star Normal difficulties also aren't that hard to make:

http://osu.ppy.sh/s/25246
http://osu.ppy.sh/b/23827
http://osu.ppy.sh/b/39731&m=0 (also has a 1.5 star Easy)
http://osu.ppy.sh/s/4546
http://osu.ppy.sh/b/55481&m=0 (also, 2-star Easy)
http://osu.ppy.sh/s/30275

I can get a lot more examples if needed. ^_^

A ton of mappers before you have made 3-star-and-under difficulties for a wide variety of songs and BPMs. Your map is harder than you think it is. I am sorry, but this feature request is not necessary and would result in less difficulties that are actually manageable for a newer player. D:

What I would do is change the name of your current "Easy" to Normal, and map a new Easy. Study some 1- to 2-star Easy difficulties, and copy what they do. You should be able to get that star rating down quite easily. Good luck!

SV 1.0, 1.5 more sliders than circles in the whole map

Anyway denying this based on what Ekaru said, the star rating system is fairly accurate up until around 4 stars. So it means you are doing something wrong when mapping (not just based on the difficulty settings).

The star rating formula will hopefully be improved at some point in the future, but letting everyone decide for themselves what their map "feels like" isn't the way to do it and will create too many inconsistencies when going through everything.
