Problem Details:
OK I have uninstall my game and install it for a few times, but it still exists, so here this is what is going on on my osu.

After I downloaded the game, it told me to login, maps are being download, everything seems fine.
Except there was no background music.


After I login, the game immediately shut down and back to the update screen, as shown below.



After the update is finished, I can open the game, but just like the first screen, no music, and I didn't connect Bancho and login. All the map are failed to process.
If I went to Solo play, it said I don't have any song and it told me to download. Unfortunately, I can't capture a screen of that.


If I press the restart below, all the thing it does is just restart and download all 14 required files again.


This computer was broken down due to malware and it was added a SSD to 'fix' the problem, apparently, the malware was not removed and still remain in the computer, I don't know if that matter.
The Osu used to work well before the computer is broken down, but now it doesn't work.
Recovering the game file only make it worse because I logged in.

Conclusion: Logging in the game restart the game, even if I just started the game.
Map can't be detect correctly.
I am also unable to connect to Bancho bot.

I think it might be the virus that you mentioned. Fully restore the PC and if that doesn't work, i might think you will need a new pc.

System.TypeInitializationException happens when the code that gets executed during the process of loading the type throws an exception. When .NET loads the type, it must prepare all its static fields before the first time that you use the type. Sometimes, initialization requires running code. It is when that code fails that you get a System.TypeInitializationException.


Check if you're running the latest .net version.

Here are steps you can do to repair osu!

  1. Hold down the Shift key on your keyboard.
  2. While holding Shift, double click the osu! icon on your desktop.
  3. Continue holding Shift until you see the recovery dialog prompt.
  4. From there, click on the "Repair osu!" option


Method 2: Shortcut
If you have the "repair osu!" Shortcut, opening that also works.


Method 3: Config Shortcut
If you don't have the "repair osu!" Shortcut, you can create one instead.
  1. Right click osu!.exe > Create a shortcut
  2. Open properties of the shortcut

Nope, it won't work
I have tried repairing it
It seems that the file are not corrupted
Since putting the game resources from other computer won't do anything

This problem is very rare but it is being reported for a lot of time
usually happen on new computer
Yet, no one know the solution...

I don't know what can I do... Maybe I should give up playing on this computer if nothing can be done...
