you better limit your fps to avoid frame drop spikes on low end machines especially when on wine. 120 or 240 is fine...
It was an application that I installed which was for some reason making me have unplayable frames. I just made a new login and installed osu and I get 240 fps again

just curious, which application that was ?
I don't have a clue so I just made a fresh login which fixed it

overall it works fine.

just when i carelessly change my osu! settings then it says that osu "is unable to find a version of the runtime to run this application"

(such as trying beta mode or compatibility mode)

PS: osu! wouldn't run anymore and i have to reinstall osu! again

EDIT: would be great if the official osu! on OS X page got updated soon

There a separate DL for this? Or is this implemented within the program? I hate seeing boxes =(

EDIT: Thanks for doing all this mate. Really appreciated- I thought I was doing a good job before by giving not-100%-advice, but here you are making new .exe builds lol. (Feelsbad)

Click in the top left corner above the compose tab and then click create a new difficulty. For some reason the buttons above compose, design, timing and song setup are hidden, but they do still work.

bump something new ? i noticed that osu lazer repository has been renamed to osu. hope they are making good progress
IIRC there was a comment on somewhere that said that lazer should be compatible with Mac natively, should solve most of our problems. Also hope that it will be out soon.

Side note:
Swapping from Wine Engine 1.7.24D3DBoost (600+ FPS) -> 1.9.15 with only 120-180 FPS was actually a better idea than I originally thought. Although lower FPS, I don't have as many random lack of key hitting responses. Latency ended up a bit lower too. However, am only using ¼ cores for 1.9.15 for some reason.

On stable-fallback though.

Alrighty... Here I am on this official thread thingy...

I haven't been able to run osu! due to admin restrictions (I have a school-issued laptop). Last year, I was able to run osu! by going into the MacOS folder and dragdropping the WineskinLauncher and WineskinX11 exec. files into Terminal and running them that way. For some reason, that was able to bypass the block or something, because it worked every time. This also worked with any other exec. file. That's how I run puush and Colloquy (my IRC client).

This year, though, it doesn't work. I've never really looked at what I was doing when I dragdropped, but I noticed that if I dragdrop only the WineskinLauncher into Terminal, it will show me this: After showing me this, it closes itself and I am left with the default "- bash" window running.

The same exact thing happens when I dragdrop only WineskinX11! It closes itself and leaves me with the default "- bash" window.

There's something else that's super 4p00ky... If I run Wineskin, (by dragdropping the Wineskin exec. file from the MacOS folder, of course) then open a new Terminal window and dragdrop WineskinLauncher, (from the osu! MacOS folder) I get THIS message from the WineskinLauncher window:
4p00ky 4cr33n4h0t4 ;w;

It shows me that, sits for about 10 seconds, then opens osu! (actually labelled "Wine") and gives me THIS!

This only happens when Wineskin is running. If Wineskin isn't running, it will just do the regular routine (pictured in the first box).

WineskinX11 closes itself as well.

So I suppose what I'm getting at... How the hell did I run this last night?
No but seriously... When I'm dragdropping all these files, what's really going ion? Why do the processes close themselves? Why doesn't it allow me to run the files? I can run anything else by dragdropping the exec. file from the MacOS folder, so why doesn't it work with osu!/Wine?

What do "WineskinLauncher" and "WineskinX11" actually mean? What are they supposed to do? etc. etc. etc.

Thank you for any information you can give me. I want to be able to play on my Mac again.

My school has ≈150mb/s internet and I want to spam maps with my osu!direct :(

I tried to install it but on Google Chrome, it says: "This type of file could harm your device." Do i install it?
(I installed the .dmg file, not the wine file.)
Xinnoh
yes, install the game if you downloaded it from this website.

Wine STAGING 1.9.15 build - Download
please let me know your results...
This build works, but its dropping frames inconsistently but sometimes it runs smoothly. Which is frustrating because everytime i was about to FC a song, the game losses frames and input lag etc .Unlike the 1.9.14 Build which was very smooth but glitches a lot (the texture went "weird"(i dont know how to explain it))

Another thing, why is there some missing icons such as the music player thingy in the top right corner and when you submit a score in the leaderboard, theres supposed to be a "up arrow" icon thingy (sorry vague language :? )

Hey, so I started using this build a few days ago and it worked pretty good, but today after updating it doesn't open and I get this error: "unable to find a version of the runtime to run this application".

Any ideas?

I have been playing on mac :/ I downloaded x11 so I could run it DX

We really need a new OS X release
I play on stable osx stable release that came out on october 2015 since the osx alpha release of april 2016 has massive imput lag.
The stable i play on has 10 ms input lag but im totally fine with that
The alpha had like a whole 500 ms input lag or something like that
The stable i play on has no hidden sliders for hidden
The stable i play on crashes when theres too many sliders at one time. Like the slider streams for big black
The stable i play on wont crash like that when running vsync but vsync causes MASSIVE input lag, so i play on 120 fps which when higher, decreases the amout of slider required to crash the game
The stable reads skin files differently so it wont recognize sliderendcircle.png and some other things
The stable has no scorev2 so i cant participate in some tournaments and world cup dream is practically dead

I'm sorry but X quartz isnt working out for alpha

After months of not finding time to fix the remaining problems with the OS X build of osu!, I have decided to make it public in its current state. You may have issues importing songs, but this can usually be fixed by mashing escape or alt-f4.

Please note this is a test release (beta if you like) and there are known bugs. That said, feel free to share your experiences in this thread and try and help each other out until the bugs are ironed out :).

http://m1.ppy.sh/osu!.20141010.dmg
http://m2.ppy.sh/osu!.20141010.dmg

Compatible with OS X 10.6~10.9.x

Things to know:
  1. The first time you run osu!, it may take up to 5 minutes to start. This is due to X11 (the graphical subsystem) rebuilding a font cache.
  2. This build will always start the updater when you run it. It will update to newer releases and therefore when the remaining issues are fixed you will automatically receive the fixes.
  3. Importing songs may get stuck. If this happens, try alt-f4 or esc mashing, or quit osu! and run it again.
  4. To see the osu! folder, right-click on osu!.app and choose "Show Package Contents" then navigate to Contents/Resources/winePrefix/drive_c/osu/
  5. Apparently you can load new songs by dragging the .osz file to the osu! icon.
Adding Beatmaps:

Open the package:

Navigate to the songs folder:

Drag your osz files inside:

Run osu! and goto song selection (or hit F5 if you are already there).

Note that you can make a shortcut to the songs folder on your desktop by dragging the folder while holding command and option. This should make it easier to load new maps for now!

10.9.5 here, the newest wrapper that agrrox posted doesn't open (looked in activity monitor, it works fine for a while then closes itself)

.
My personal experience with 1.9.X engines is that they are unstable and osu is constantly crashing while scrolling songs in song select screen.
Engines 1.9.16 and higher were not even able to launch osu for some reason.
I gave 2.0 staging engine a try and it works just fine.

Please share your results. You can copy your osu data from old osu wrapper to this new after first launch. if you don't know how, you can use guide on my profile.
Maybe it's just my laptop being underpowered but it doesn't seem to launch on Sierra. I'm using 1.9.14 and it's working just fine (Mid-2012 MacBook Pro)
WatermelonArray
Any particular reason as to why osu! is constantly capped at 60fps (probably because of vsync on X11?) on a macbook pro 2015 13inch running macOS Sierra.

If it is an issue, how can I solve it?

link is not wroking anymore can someone make a new upload? thanks
Yaoi
Does anyone else have problems downloading new maps? Whenever I add a new map, osu gets stuck on the beatmap processing screen, and then it won't work again unless I remove the map from my songs folder and restart the game.

This is on 10.12.2.

edit: So something weird I noticed is that it lets me add beatmaps if I delete a few of my old ones (doesn't look like it matters which ones I delete). Idk why that could be, because I didn't think there was any kind of limit on how many maps you can have.
Pach
Can i change it to stable(latest)
OsuToothbrush
