I marked important things red (im almost sure those things are unrankable)

General
  • -Offset is 625, just because the map doesnt start until 00:21:197 - the song did start from 00:00:625 - on
    -00:44:168 - put the preview point correctly on the white line (also im not sure but I think the bookmark points (blue lines) are supposed to be correctly placed as well)



Normal

  • You use new combo's a bit randomly before kiai... make them a bit more consistent please, or at least a bit less long
    00:22:568 (1) - finish hitsound pls
    00:22:568 - to 00:33:539 - You know its pretty boring without hitsounds, you should try to do something like hard with the whistles (or clap sounds work as well).
    00:32:854 (2,1,2) - these notes hit the lifebar, if im right that was unrankable (at least a while ago it was...)
    00:35:939 (5,1) - I dont see a reason to use a jump here
    00:44:511 (1) - finish hitsound
    00:44:854 - it might be an idea to look into sliderticks that make the clap sounds, since it sounds sorta empty without any hitsounds on these sliders
    00:48:282 (2,3) - These notes also hit the lifebar pretttyyy closely, just move them a bit down just in case
    00:54:454 (3,4,1) - im not a big fan of these patterns where you hide a circle under another circle after moving away from it... especially since most newer players use the standard skin and the combo burst is in the way. Its just ok here though.
    00:55:482 (1) - finish
    01:06:454 (1) - finish
    01:09:539 (2,3,4,5) - Its pretty much here though, it moves back and forth a lot... it will confuse newer players. I really suggest to place them differently

  • oh it looks pretty good, so I only have some small fixes
    00:44:511 (1) - you placed a nice finish before this slider but I think it sounds better if you use finish here again
    00:44:511 - to 01:06:454 - pleassee use clap on the 2nd beat, it sounds so empty without those
    00:56:854 - just like to point out that i think these square jumps look really neat
    01:04:739 (4) - this circle hits the lifebar, i think youre not allowed to let the circle hit the lifebar (not sure)
    01:06:454 (1) - finish
    01:27:711 (7) - yeah this sounds weird, i think youre better off not using any finish sound and lowering the volume down to 20

    00:22:225 - to 00:33:539 - add hitsounding please, same reasoning as normal
    00:29:425 (8,9,10) - yeah 3 stack is a bit too much, space them out please
    00:44:511 (1) - finish, also the new combo usage is a biiiitt too much, I like them when theyre used at big jumps but when the circles are close to each other they look kind of bad.. ill point them out later
    00:47:768 (1) - yeah i dont really like how it currently looks like, im not a big fan of jumps back on the exact same position... I personally think it should be placed somewhere else... if you dont like doing that at least remove the new combo, this has a combo of 3 00:49:311 (1,2,3) - so why cant this be a combo of 3
    00:50:511 (1) - remove new combo pls, also it kinda kills the flow when you put the circles so close together lol... Ill stop mentioning this btw

    01:15:968 (1,2,3,4,5,6,7) - this is a mess to play... they overlap too much and its more confusing than neccesary to play this... I suggest you to use circles only for the stream so you dont have to swap from circle to slider

  • 00:22:568 (2) - finish, also add hitsounding pls (btw read all the finish hitsounds i mentioned in normal)

    00:33:539 - really a 19 combo xD hmm try adding new combos at every big jump, like at 00:34:911 (5) - it doesnt look amazing but it looks better than a 19 combo
    00:41:254 (1) - why new combo here... makes no sense, the spacing is indeed bigger than the rest but youre gradually increasing the spacing
    00:46:911 - to 00:49:654 - you forgot to hitsound lol
    00:47:768 (1) - again I dont like the close circles then a slider with a new combo pattern... I prefer the slider to have a new combo then, also you forced the blanket so much that the placemetn looks awkward lol, place it a bit further away
    00:54:111 (1,1) - it doesnt feel great to be forced to stand still after a lot of jumps, especially since theres nothing in the music that indicates this
    01:00:111 - almost sure this is too hgh
    01:04:054 - I really dont understand why you dont continue the clap sounds here, the instrumental didnt change that much at all besides adding a drum
    01:08:854 (9,10) - I dont really like this anti-jump it doesnt fit very well with the music

Also, a side note - I had 7 a circle and 8 a slider mostly because I represented each word of the lyrics as an object (it played well and it's cool to twist in some neat, little concepts) and swapping 7 into a slider and 8 into a circle breaks that rule. But your suggestion made sense too, so I tried it, I liked it and I applied it, thanks!

A circle instead of 1/4 slider allows for a smoother transition into jumps as I had the sliders much closer together than the jumps to follow. But a single slider + circle instead of the 2nd slider nets more consistent spacing throughout the section.

    01:03:368 (7) - As i was saying in previous diffs slider ends should not be placed on strong beats put a circle in the middle of that slider its better than this - I do agree that ending a slider on a strong beat is a bad practice, but I don't think it's too big of an issue with the 1/1 part to follow (especially when the slider itself is exactly 1 beat long). It serves as a very good lead into the next section after those jumps. I get your point, but as it's not a 'clap' beat, I don't consider this issue important enough to sacrifice this smooth transition between sections. I'll keep an eye out for this slider in future mods.

But then again - the rest of the map has a very basic structure so having something a little out of ordinary might indeed be hard to read for some good bunch of people. For sake of consistency and simplicity I did place the circle somewhere else.

Thanks for the mod! The first few points and the last two were some little errors that I had made and didn't notice, really thanks for pointing them out. Those had to be fixed.

Also, upon making those stacked circles at the end of 5-note bursts during the last kiai time, I already imagined mods pointing them out. I really liked the idea and at the time thought I would stick with it, but ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ ..Taking a look on the map now, a while after making it - (as I already mentioned above) it has a relatively basic and easy to read structure. So it didn't take more than one mod to just give up on my silly idea and just make a standard jump after those bursts ^_^

00:47:254 (1,2) - the flow here ( as well as 00:55:483 (1,2) ) is inconsistent ; those sounds are mapped with 2 1/1 sliders which don’t follow commonly accepted flow ( see 00:52:740 (1,2) - 00:49:997 (1,2) - 00:44:511 (1,2) where the next objects aren’t in the direction that those sliders’ shapes imply ), which can be a perfectly valid concept if you can justify it and apply it consistently. So it’s up to you to either keep that idea and make it so that the 4 sliders mentioned above don’t follow regular flow, or completely abandon it and make all other sliders follow a circular flow

00:54:454 (3) - the 1/4 rhythm is at 00:54:711, not here, also I think you can make this an actual triple considering the small amount of 1/4 rhythms in the song

More of a comment/thought than a suggestion, but the kicksliders are interesting. May be a bit too "overmap"-y for an Insane, but I dunno, it works pretty well anyway. Not saying that you gotta get rid of them, but some people might not like them when modding.

00:27:368 (4,5) - Fix stack, it looks super weird as is right now - Fixed in previous mod

Well, Up until the end of the build-up I was trying to capture the lyrics with my choice of objects. This will be especially apparent in the next point. Those kicksliders are so close together they play pretty much as single circles. Since their usage is very repetitive I don't think you could call it overmapping for a 4.6* difficulty (considering the length too. Say it was a 2 minute beatmap, SR would be even higher)

00:28:054 (2,3,4) - the other patterns used circular flow, why change all of a sudden ? - Thanks, good catch! That whole combo was a lot more consistent flow-wise earlier. But it got changed in a recent mod and I didn't notice the change in flow (since it was more or less a month since I had touched the map before applying the mod. I might have also been rather careless at the time, which of course is a bad thing, and lead to making even more holes while trying to fix the existing ones). I Crtl+G'd the middle slider and adjusted the following objects until the buildup for a nicer blanket.

00:29:083 (5,6) - same thing about the kicks - True. See, now the usage of the kicks came apparent! As mentioned above, I had rearranged this combo and I thank you very much for pointing this out. Pretty important stuff!

00:29:426 (7) - should be NC’d as well since you put a NC every measure before - Already NC'd due to you pointing it out earlier, thanks!

That's 16 circles and felt a bit too much (as well as spiked the difficulty by 0.15 stars). Instead I had put a reverse slider starting 00:42:454 - The stream now starts on downbeat, lasts half a measure (8 circles), followed by a repeating reverse slider that is covering the word "know," and with three kicks following the word "how."

00:50:511 (3) - that slider breaks the flow both at its head and tail, that’s the first time it happens for that particular sound so it gets inconsistent - I wouldn't quite agree, but thanks for pointing this out. The head could indeed use a little tighter angle so I made some adjustments. The tail however - the next slider and the follow up circle is in a very similar position as in the previous time you saw this pattern. The flow changes rotation for the following jumps, yes, and I used these sliders to do it without causing too unnatural movement.

I suppose I just wanted some variation in blanketing them. But you're right - there's no reason in having such a change, and especially midsection. Thanks!

It still rotate flow in a little odd-ish way, but I did the same with the very last jump of the previous jump section (while rearranging the zig-zag flow into a circular one) but it shouldn't be too big of a deal as it's on the exit of the jumps and leads into the sliders.

There's a sound on the blue tick, but it doesn't go well with the rhythm established earlier that combo. Just try to put a circle on that blue tick and stack the two notes right under the slidertail - it felt very odd and I like it the way it is right now. :/

01:12:968 (6) - every time I came across this slider before in the map, its shape broke the circular flow going on. Why is this not the case here ? - You only came across a slider that is utilized in that kind of pattern only once. The one you linked is 2nd out of 4 total during that kiai time. Thee other two don't 'break the flow' neither. The first one doesn't follow the fluid circular motion as much indeed, so I rotated it a bit (still doesn't make the flow circular, but the shape applies less tension on it).

01:27:198 (3,4,5,6) - maybe scale the spacing down gradually cause of the fadeout ? - It's a pretty sudden fade-out so I wanted to keep them a bit jumpy (and there's a little too little circles to make the graduality show). But I did the best I could as it still fits the music.

AyanokoRin - That's a pretty large mod you gave. While I didn't quite agree on everything (I hope that's understandable), you also pointed out some important things that had to be changed. Few sections of the song (like the ending of the buildup, or the beat long slider ending on a downbeat right before a measure full of 1/1's) made me struggle making a decision on how to map them. You gave very thoughtful options that were much better than what I had originally made. So thank you very much for your time, the mod was plenty of help despite not agreeing on everything. Thank you!

Mod is a bit short, but that is because most issues are overall problems rather than polishing. This may be too short to give kudosu, but I have seen shorter mods.

Right now, your map is not near rank-able. I could be wrong, but there are a few things separating it from recently ranked maps.
Your map seems boring, and I think that is due to the plain jump patterns. Try and use wider, and more distinct patterns of jumps, by varying spacing and circular flow with, say every kick you rotate the flow, or using special jump patterns for some parts of a song.
If you were aiming for pp mapping, you failed there too. Long streams fail to attract pp, so if this is what you are aiming for, replace the beginning stream with kick sliders starting on say every vocal syllable.
If you are complaining that the song is too repetitive to be reflected interestingly, use gimmicks like overlaps, slider shapes and so on to give some extra juice into the song.

You did do a good job in rhythm though, so you are well on your way there!

At first I was very active and was trying to go for rank but the way ranking is atm it's way too hard. I see a lot of actualy rankable maps but it's so hard to get bn attention so at the end even the people with very, very good mapsets give up. I havent given up completly yet tho, I still sometimes look over the map and polish some things so maybe sometime later when I'm in mood to put some more work into this mapset I might go for rank.
My aim never was to make a pp map but just to make a simple dnb map as first ranked map.

Anyway, thanks for the feedback and mini mod. Fixed the things you pointed out! :):)

Found this map from random np on #lobby (i like fox stevenson too)

Fast mod just by looking on metadata in map description.

Fox Stevenson is thing which shouldn't be used as source and tags, because it's name of artist. You can add stan sb to tags instead.
