I've tried many times to map but even after reading guides and youtube videos on advice how to I feel like everything i make suck...
When I test my beatmaps they feel extremely terrible to play and not fun at all.

I have so many questions and problems I don't know even where to begin:
What sv should I use?
How should I set my beat snap divisor and why?
Should i start mapping easy, normal, hard or insane difficulties first?

How did you start mapping? it seems like to take me hours to map 1 minute song.

I may not be the best person for advice.. but If i try and make a beatmap I would start with beatmaps you play a lot! such as: if you play insane maps you should try mapping an insane map. this is simply because you're more familiar with what a good beatmap takes with this difficulty. I also find just watching someone elses' beatmap through in the editor gives an idea of what you can sue to put in.

These questions are heavily dependant on the song you are mapping and which difficulty you are striving for. Higher difficulties usually sport higher difficulties and slow songs tend to have a higher SV than faster ones at similar star rating. But these are just general observation, when talking about slider velocity the biggest question is how you want the map to play. This does take some time to get good at choosing but you won't know if you don't try.

Starting mapping involved a lot of experimentation for me. While my first maps were quite horrible and I'm still not satisfied with what I'm producing it certainly got better when I started mapping and modding more and critically looked at what was bad and figured out why it might have been bad!
It is also a common occurence for some persons to be dissatisfied with most things they produce even if it might not be that bad. That is why you should ask people for opinions or testplays, for example in #modhelp.
Don't give up and be patient. Things will start going faster with time.

Thanks for the advice.
I've started mapping this song https://osu.ppy.sh/s/557281
It takes me so long to make this because I was constantly changing things and wasn't sure which pattern of circles to use.
Can you check it out and provide some feedback? I feel like I am doing things wrong.. :(

I'm no expert at mapping, I am not a very skilled or average beat mapper, nor have I made anything considered "good", so please don't consider listening or take everything I say so seriously :)
Let's get right into the mapping
Okay so here we go,

Since you're fairly new to mapping I'm guessing that you probably don't know how the editor works, so here's a video that breaks down all the essentials of the editor- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2k8s0gBg9yU&t=47s
Imo I think you should play around with the editor, place some notes around, time some songs and when you can use the editor proficiently then I suggest to move on and learn some mapping concepts...

There are two mapping YouTubers who make videos that are very helpful for getting into mapping named Pishifat and Amo. I recommend watching all of their videos and SLOWLY try to apply what they say to your maps.

Pishifat's channel- https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCw08Og ... 64IrtqSOUA

A Mo's channel- https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCGeHQe ... t7bOCcEHfw

If you have questions for mapping or want a mod (someone who has experience with making beatmaps that can help you) You can always go to the #modhelp channel in game

PLEASE DO NOT TRY TO RUSH MAPPING It always takes time to get better at things, if you rush to start mapping then you'll realize very quickly that you're WAY WAY WAY in over your head (not trying to discourage you) getting good at mapping takes time so I suggest you slowly get better.

Here's a video explaining the stages of a mapper from Pishi- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VBPYemKlTic

During mapping you will get discouraged, it will be hard, and you may want to quit. I understand and a lot of people have been there, but If you pull through and try your best you will improve, I can promise that :)

Also I noticed you had questions about timing and beat snap divisor here are some videos that can help

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xauZuMPgiQw&t=35s tutorial on timing
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qmCEfh865b4 Answers your question about beat snap divisor
GOOD LUCK :)
