I don't exactly have a proverb to think of right now (other than silly Brazilian sayings which probably don't mean much and are just for shits & giggles), so I'll just use Charles' quote in response to the "you don't need to be a chef to know the food is bad" sentence.
if you really need some proverb or something like that, I'd say that "You miss 100% of the shots you don't take" is something that I like and I'd like to apply more for my life tbh
