One thing I might suggest is pressing F5 and scanning all your beatmaps again. If this doesn't work then we can try removing the .DB files that store this kind of data.
I can't see how your "backgrounds" would be mixed up since they are contained within the Songs folder in their own beatmap folder instead of caching them like the thumbnails are.
