why?
i'm playing on 1.0 400dpi and it feels so good. So it's player preference- some may want almost don't move his/her hand(high dpi) and some may want fly with it(low dpi)

play more 8-)

The main challenge of most maps for many people is the approach rate of the approach circles. This takes some getting used to. Some people get used to the faster approach rates faster, some people take forever.

Also, the transition from mid to high level play WILL require the recognition of note patterns at the first glance. Usually you will eventually remember through experience, but sometimes hard memorizing helps for some.

What to do: Find a map you cannot pass, play it in No-Fail. If you can't read the map go and have the Autobot play it and observe very closely how the cursor moves. Eventually you'll be able to keep up. And NO I fully disapprove of Spun Out because you can't practice spinning hands on.

It took me 3 months to go from hard to insane. I just thought that if I keep trying insane maps my hand-eye coordination will improve sooner.

But still, I don't know how you guys finish something like this http://osu.ppy.sh/s/10143
It always reminds me how slow my stream speed is :(

Try taiko if you have trouble keeping rhythm during streams. If you can't keep a stable rhythm then how can you hit those super hard streams.

If you can play the map on taiko without trouble, then you can focus on actually moving along the notes. Where the notes are on the playing field for the most part is irrelevent. If you can find the beat you know how to hit the notes no matter where they are. Taiko will remove the locations of the notes and allow you to find the beat. The beat of the song will then instruct you how to hit the notes.

After that its just practice until you can play to the pace of the difficulty.

truth in this, playing hardrock/doubletime often will make other maps feel slow/easier imo
i played matzcore 40 odd times when it was ar10, then in 1 try i passed banned forever for my first time

Exactly. When I did nothing but play hardrock 2 months ago, I could hardly even recognize maps like http://osu.ppy.sh/s/18009 that had been "on the edge" stuff last time I played it. It felt that slow.

Well.. It really depends on the maps and the person, I would recommend you to just play different maps that you find difficult to get an A or a good B but I would never tell you to play the same map over and over and over. Just cycle through the maps, download and try new challenges, that's the best way to get better, I also think you should have fun with the maps you're playing because if you start to anger for not being able to pass a map then you will not be able to play fine and relaxed anymore, and believe me, you don't want that to happen.

play harder maps over and oveer again
Deathrain
87 plays - DJ Sharpnel - StrangeProgram [Lesjuh's TAG]
80 plays - Demetori - Emotional Skyscraper ~ World's End [Extra Stage]
65 plays - Demetori - Jehovah's YaHVeH [Hard] (Double Time)
55 plays - Demetori - Jehovah's YaHVeH [Lunatic]
37 plays - Nightcore - Pinball [Ultimate's Craziness]
35 plays - IOSYS - Okuu's Nuclear Fusion Dojo [v2b's Insane]

To me, that's a lot of plays. Then you count the nofail/spun out plays. Add about 5-15 more plays. I have an all or nothing style of learning. If I don't get better, I never pass a song again.

I'm going to be doing the same method, but with straight sudden death ^^

Play maps that don't have shit spreads

Yes, its the anti-piracy ad. Its short, which might help a tiny bit :)
Also, the first insane I passed (Kid's Grell): http://osu.ppy.sh/b/64176. Though admittedly it's one of the "easier" insanes as Claude and Sebastian difficulties are way harder

Man it's a year passed, you are little bit late. He/she most likely can already pass insane difficulties.

Lol. This guy is on a necroposting spree.

OMG Definitely This. Maps like those just make you wanna rage like hell. Avoid playing such maps.
Also playing multiplayer a lot helps as well. Multiplayer is a good way to have fun playing osu!
I like to goof off in multiplayer and just have fun failing hard maps XD.

EDIT: One thing I would say about insanes is the high drain rate and smaller timing window. Try to avoid missing as much notes as possible but at the same time try to time each note better. No fail mod is your friend, try it.

As for the approach rate, I'm still working on this at the moment. I still can't read AR9/AR10 well after almost 10 months of playing osu!, but hopefully I'll be able to read them like a pro. Your best formula for success is to just keep practicing. There's no magic formula for success really.

MOST importantly have fun! :D

What about using the no-fail mod in order to get used to the speed of the beatmaps? Is that a good way to improve because I have the same problem. But I can do the easy-insane beatmaps.
EcksDee
IMO I improved fastest when I just played retardedly difficult maps. ATM I'm playing some unranked t+pazolite songs which are seriously hard but still follow-able, until I get to the streams that is. It's hard but I'm improving and every time I go back to my "to do" collection I find I can S another difficult map.
Granted I'm nowhere near pro-level so cover my posts with some grains of salt I guess.

The downside of this is that I barely have any scores lol. I think I got the least SS, S and A in my country's top 15.
I think the low pass count also leads to my ppv2 country rank being like 24 places below my current one but eh.

I realize the thread is a necro but it's still a valid question.

First, practice with EZ,NF,HT 3 or more times. Then try with no mods.
My first hard is Aivi and Surasshu - Love Like You. I got an C on it.
Try doing the same thing on Insane. You should do it.
