Sounds cool; I've never heard of using a mouse chipboard for any DIY stuff, but it makes a lot of sense.

Those interested in this sort of device should also check out TheLamaHD's video chris referred to, as well as fb39ca4's KappaPad--a similar device that doesn't require finger hats.

If I understand you made your own version of this :
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=N2geUlbRJPg (Geckogates version)
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=6W0Fdsy17fw (My version that I used to play in 2013)

If some people want to reproduce that then it's fairly easy, you need to disassemble an old keyboard, and find two keys that has one of the contacts in common. Connect that contact onto the metal plate. Connect the other contact of each onto a wire and find a way to put the other end of the wire on your finger so that it does a good contact with the metal plate and that's it. Have fun.
Honestly I don't have my version of this anymore but I remember that I switched back to keyboard because that was not helping me to improve at all and I find it far better to stream on a mechanical keyboard. But that's just a matter of personal preference so if you have an old keyboard laying around you might want to try it.

It can work with a mouse too of corse, and you don't have to search for the correct contacts so it might be easier to do. However if you play with a tablet as a pointing device then you'll have to disable the pen tip click in the tablet drivers or it will interfere with it and prevent you to play correctly.
I guess people who want to make that will just likely use the one they have available to use for this purpose anyways.

The one that I made in 2013 was actualy using a USB controller and using some software to remap the inputs as keyboard keys. Onestly I think you could use anything that can input to a computer using buttons to do that.
I doubt you could reprogram the chip in a mouse, that probably uses some kind of integrated chip made just for that purpose and even if it used a programmable chip I think they would probably find a way to prevent you to reprogram it. But if you actually can then it could be interesting, however other people could probably not reproduce unless they get the exact same mouse as yours.

I was bored tooday so I made a new one of these things (I don't have the one I made in 2013 anymore)

^ That's how easy it is with a mouse to make.
