By far the best tag 4 diff ever made

Just to clarify a few things about Loved status:

1. To qualify for Loved, maps must still be well-timed and at least reasonably playable. A good example of something that isn't Loved material is the Mark Mulholland titanic recorder map, since most of it is deliberately out of time and generally makes you want to rip your hands off.
2. Loved maps can also not autofail. 2B maps are notorious for this due to a long-standing client bug, so they're unfortunately out of the question until the bug is fixed. Same deal with stuff like the Graces of Heaven non-debug difficulty.
3. You can suggest individual difficulties within a set.

Do remember that we'll be opening up community voting for the next round of Loved maps very soon, and lots of the maps mentioned in this thread are very likely to appear in it.

I'm removing tewi and mulholland. Good that there is an option to only love an individual difficulty, so graces of heaven can stay up!


I hope the list is at least somewhat useful to the staff. I'll edit in some more things today, particularly hard maps where people might be interested to see how the best of the best do on them.

V^3 has already been passed nomod.

I assume he meant maps like centipede, that can be passed by auto but are obviously impossible to beat, even with HT. Those are out.


Anyways, HUGE update of the list. I added about 100 maps, particularly hard ones, arles, other gamemodes, lots of stuff that has been suggested in the thread, mazzerin, Rabbit's Jumping and it goes on.

The list should be pretty good now, although I'm probably still missing a shitload of hard maps around 100 favourites. If you got more, PM me!

If I am not mistaken, Kroytz' Snow Drive is still going for rank but Kroytz is a bit inactive till end of October

Gist of list is: quality maps that never made it to rank for one reason or another. Some of the maps under hard don't have many favs simply because of the raw skill required to play those maps.
Another reason for low favourites one some is simply empty tags, making actually finding the songs hard.

Idk, putting Groundhog in misc. just because it has a TAG diff doesn't feel right .. it definitely got very much attention but I can see that quite a few people wouldn't even know this map nowadays

there are plenty of gimmick maps that could never be ranked and this is their time to shine, but what most people seem to want is arles/raikozen maps

That being said, BD, many of the maps that got loved-status aren't really too gimmicky.
I'd have definitely expected to see tewi 2B and Graces of Heaven on the first batch, given how these are definitely unique and uh... loved?!

Anyway, I just hope that we won't see a new owntrolf-meme with this one...

I think Eph explained that 2b maps aren't ready yet due to the client fucking up when they're played (not being able to finish the map), which is why the first batch mostly had hard maps, but they will be added in the near future

I have to agree with BD: Gimmicky maps are quickly forgotten after they get some spotlight and this status is basically their only way to shine - contrary to hard maps who are still potentially rankable.

@Endaris: Graces of Heaven has 2B parts as well, so I don't think it should be expected as soon as proper 2B maps, sadly.
