So I hit a wall in terms of skill and I came to the conclusion that my foundation isn't that strong. I realized that I can't FC a lot of 4-4.5 stars that easily, but I know I can do it. I am also an alt tapper who hasn't developed sufficient control yet (not sure if that is any useful information). Should I start hanging out in the 4-4.5 star difficulty area or should I just attempt to work on the skills that I should have at my rank and go back to attempting 4.9+? As of right now, where is my skill level level located?

Star rating isn't that important, just keep challenging yourself.
if you can't do it now you are just daydreaming
put some effort in now to change what you are in the future, maybe you can do it then

you're doing fine. There is a natural wall at your level that most people have to deal with in one way or another. Keep pushing until you break it!
