I don't think there's anything wrong with mapping in any of these ways. However...
I prefer maps that focus on following the song very closely.
And that's what my mods are going to focus on mainly. I don't mind if you use gimmicks or ugly sliders or whatever, I will only focus how I think you could make the map follow the song better. Of course it's only going to be my opinion, so feel free to reject any criticism I might have or to message me if you don't think I've explained my ideas well enough.
A few rules:
Star difficulty above 4.5. If it's any lower, I probably won't be able to judge your map properly (I won't be able to tell if it's boring because it is bad, or just because it is too easy for me...)
Similarly, I might struggle with difficulties above 5.5-6 stars, however I might still give it a shot, so don't hesitate to request a mod for a difficult map.
Mod request MUST include:
NM or M4M
Artist and Song name
Difficulties you want me to mod
A link.
I don't really care about music genre, though I'm not a huge fan of anime openings. I won't mind too much though.
Regardless of how many spots are open, it is never first come/first serve. I will probably pick mostly based on what I find interesting.
That's it really. Finally, just to make sure you are reading this, type "I hope your mod won't be terrible... again" somewhere in your request.
M4M:
There will also be M4M available for anybody interested. M4M always take priority over NM. Just don't be too upset if you think my mod is terrible afterwards... I'll do my best!
Rules are the same as for NM, except I will definitely map something above 6 stars.
This is the map to mod for M4M: t/485633
Please don't mod my map until I have confirmed that I will mod your map (just in case you misunderstood the rules or something...)
Please try to not be offended by anything I say in my mod. I will say my honest opinion, but I will always try to explain why I have that opinion as well as I can (no matter how stupid it is).
And please remember that I'm sometimes busy. And that I'm always lazy. So if a mod is taking a very long time, it's probably the second reason.
