Introduction

It's this time of the year again! Welcome, to the 2nd edition of the Last Man Standing - Single Player Edition (short: LMS:SE) tournament! As last time, I will be your host, but I also want to thank all volunteers, the referees, streamers and translators, who greatly contribute to making this tournament work!

Now, before we get started, let me explain what this is all about! LMS:SE is a 1v1 tournament, no teams - this means only your skills matter and nothing else. You will try to become the best player of your region (this is explained below!), but that's not it! The winner of each region has to face the winner of every other region as well, to determine the winner of this tournament!

We hope that you all will have a great time and will enjoy this tournament, also in preparation for the upcoming 7th Taiko World Cup![/notice]

Regions

I mentioned regions! A change from previous LMS tournaments is, that you will only play against other players from your own region, as they are defined for this tournament. There are four regions:
  1. AMERICA: Includes both North, Central, and South America.
  2. ASIA: Includes all Asian and Oceanian countries, excluding: Russia, Japan, and Middle East countries.
  3. EUROPE: Includes all European, African and Middle East countries, and Russia.
  4. JAPAN: Japan. Depending on the amount of registrations, may also include Taiwan.
All stages except for the Grand Finals are limited to each region. Additionally, map pools are also designed to have minor variations for each region, often highlighting mappers from those regions!

Registration

Simply write a PM to me, Ntiger, bu please have [LMS:SE2] in the title! Do note, however, that each region is limited to 32 players.

Rules

Please read the rules carefully and thoroughly!
1. General Rules
1.1: The Last Man Standing - Single Player Edition 2 (LMS:SE2) is a single player tournament, with the aspects of knock-out rules, and a double elimination bracket system.

1.2: The maps for each round will be announced by the mapset selector in advance on the Sunday before the actual matches take place.
  • 1.2.1: There will be a NoMod, Hidden, HardRock, DoubleTime and FreeMod bracket, as well as a Tiebreaker bracket.
1.3: Match schedule will be settled by the Tournament Management.

1.4: If no staff or referee is available, the match will be postponed.

1.5: Use of the Visual Settings options are allowed.

1.6: If the Tiebreaker ends in a draw, the tiebreaker will be replayed under FreeMod conditions.

1.7: If a player disconnects, then they’re eliminated from the game.
  • 1.7.1: Unless the disconnected player has a screenshot with their final score, or the server saved their score before disconnection, so we can compare it to the others.
1.7.2: The second exception is when the player is disconnected at the beginning of the game, before the first 50 notes appeared. In that case, there will be a rematch.

1.8: Maps cannot be reused in the same match unless the game was nullified.

1.9: You will have 10 minutes after the scheduled time to be able to play. If you are not available after 10 minutes have passed you lose your match.

1.10: Lag is not a valid reason to nullify a map.

1.11: Unexpected incidents are handled by the tournament management.

1.12: Any modification of these rules will be announced.

2. Tournament Registration
  • 2.1: For a player to sign up, you must PM one of the Tournament Management.

2.2: The maximum amount of players is 32 per region.

2.3: The Tournament Team involved directly with the map pool may not participate as players in this tournament. This does not include referees, streamers, commentators or translators.

2.4: To ensure valid registrations, any registrations and changes will be checked.

[list:1337]2.4.1: Players from Australia, Canada, Indonesia, the Russian Federation and the United States are asked to provide their time zone, to ensure correct scheduling. You can look them up here.

2.4.2: Please have "[LMS:SE2]" in your PM title (with brackets).
2.5: Even after registering successfully, you might not be able to play in the tournament due to the existing player limit noted in 2.2. The highest ranked players will have higher priority. It is not first come, first serve.

3. Stage Instructions
3.1: The tournament will have three phases: The initial group stage, the knock-out stage, and the Grand Finals. The knock-out stage uses double-elimination and is intended to be held over a span of four weeks.

3.2: Group Stage matches are seeded by rank.

3.3: Winning condition: In all rounds, you must win on a certain amount of maps against your opponent. The amount of maps required varies:
  1. In Group Stage, it is Bo7: First to win 4 maps wins.
  2. In Round of 16, Quarterfinals and Semifinals, it is Bo9: First to win 5 maps wins.
  3. In Finals and Grand Finals, it is Bo11: First to win 11 maps wins.

4. Match Instructions
4.1: A referee (or tournament manager) will create a multiplayer room in time. Players must gather during this period.
  • 4.1.1: The room will be locked. The multiplayer invite will be sent to all players as soon as possible.
4.1.2: Room settings are taiko, Head to Head, Win Condition: 'Score'. Room name must be "LMS:SE2 2016: MatchNumber"
4.1.3: The players must occupy slots 1 and 2.
4.1.4: The setup at the start of the match must remain consistent throughout.
4.2: There may be up to two warm-ups per match. The maximum length is 3 minutes in Group Stage; it is 5 minutes in the other stages.

4.3: Map selection will alternate between every player selecting a map out of the map pool. Both players must use "!roll" once in #multiplayer. The winner of the roll can decide if he starts banning OR picking.
  • 4.3.1: The player may select maps out of all bracket freely. However, no map can be picked twice, and the tiebreaker can not be picked by the players either.
4.4: In case of a tie, the tiebreaker must be played.[/list]

4.5: Results will be published via the Statistics page.

5. Mappool Instructions
5.1: There will be a separate map pool for every stage. Some maps may vary between different regions.

5.2: Each mappool consists of 6 brackets: NoMod, Hidden, HardRock, DoubleTime, FreeMod and Tiebreaker.

5.3: Each mappool consists of 14 maps in total. This makes it easier for each player to practice maps, as it's not as overwhelming as 20 maps.

5.4: Each mappool has one tiebreaker.
  • 5.4.1: The tiebreaker will be played without mods.
5.5: The NoMod bracket will be played with no mods activated.

5.6: The Hidden, HardRock and DoubleTime bracket will be played with the respective mods activated.
  • 5.6.1: FreeMod will be played with either Hidden, HardRock or no mod activated. Picking a FreeMod map forces you to enable a mod; your opponent is free to play without mods. You can not play with both Hidden and HardRock activated.
5.7: The size of the NoMod bracket will be 5.

5.8: The size of the mod-specific brackets will be 2.

5.9: The mappool will be released 1 week in advance of the match.

6. Scheduling Instructions
6.1: Each stage will be held on a single weekend, unless in very special cases in which we can make exceptions.

6.2: Matches may overlap.

6.3: Scheduling will be handled by the Tournament Management. Schedules and map pools will be released on the Sunday before the first matches of the actual stage. The Tournament Management will try to create the schedule to respect the participant's time zone.
  • 6.3.1: For reschedules, contact your opponent and one of the tournament staff before the matches take place. There cannot be reschedules after Thursday.
