Fixed all except OD; point of the map is to have slow but very hard streams so I wanna keep OD9.5 at least.

  1. Samples are waaay too loud, you could reduce hitsounds to like.. 70-75% or so. And you could try to hitsounds the map, it's really important.
  2. 00:12:465 (1) - Slider is pretty fast which makes it pretty hard to follow especially that it's the really beginning it's not incorporate to some kind of flow whatsoever. I think you could reduce SV down to 0.75.
  3. 00:18:174 (3) - You should add a note here, it'll be more natural to play and I guess that those 3/4 are what you're following there.
  4. 00:24:852 (16) - Easy to add finish+NC x:
  5. 01:02:012 (15) - ^
  6. 00:25:142 (1,2,3) - Good luck to be accurate on this. You should add a note on the red tick just before to make it natural to play.

Well... You were questionning my use of kick sliders, they allow to offer some variations to full streams, especially they can create awesome flow. Your map is really repetitive rhythm wise as it is always the same (stream), however, the music does change, but you keep mapping the same stream over and over again with most of the time the same DS speed...which is a bit annoying x: Sometimes you tried to create some patterns with those streams and it's some nice attempts, but it feels irrevelant on a more than 5 mins length repetitive map.

I don't know... When the music is low, even if it's 1/4 you can put a rly low sv, or some 1/4 sliders with repete sliders etc.

ya i should experiment more with them, especially when the foreground and background instruments sound at same time im now realizing kicksliders can be good for that. however i want this to be a stamina map so i didnt put many sliders

00:14:399 (1,2,3,4) - i fail to see any reason why the DS is inconsistent here. if you want to change up the DS anywhere, it should probably be here 00:15:077 (4) because of the pitch of the melody.
00:21:173 - in many sections, youre ignoring some beats like this one, but why? it sounds just as important as the stream before it. like here, 00:57:754 (1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10,11,12,1,2,3,4,1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10,11,12,13,14,1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10,11,12,13,14,1) - its the same thing, except you filled in those beats. i think it would be better if you mapped the empty beats in the earlier section.

00:39:173 - this section does have lyrics. however, right now there is a very big difference in how it feels to play from the stream part. generally, most (good) maps dont follow lyrics ONLY, they follow instruments as well.
00:40:915 (1) - slider looks really weird, try making a standard wave slider?
00:43:431 (1) - you only need 1 anchor point
00:41:302 (1,2) - overlap doesnt look good

05:36:077 - there is a strong note here, so why not map it as a circle and then have the spinner afterwards?

general ending points:
-be consistent in what you do map and what you don't map. don't skip over notes for no good reason.
-dont completely ignore the instruments you've been following to switch over to the entrance of another musical element (vocals, guitar). i would recommend using slider heads to mark vocals and guitar. you've already done this in a few places like here 02:04:528 (1,2,3,4,5) - and here 02:10:722 (1,2,3,1,2)
-overlaps dont look good unless executed properly. if you want an overlap, find a way to make it fit in with the rest of the objects around it.
-04:05:496 (1) - 04:05:883 (1) - 04:06:270 (1) - the sharp turns at these points work well in emphasizing the vocals, so if you dont use the slider pattern, use this pattern instead.

I think OD 9.5 is pretty high even for an extra diff, compared to ice angel https://osu.ppy.sh/s/297933 , which this map is based on with all the streams, somthing like 9 or just 8.7 would fit better.

02:00:464 (1,2,1) - the overlap here could be pretty confusing for the player consider moving stream up, or overlap the circle into the first sliders tail like this http://imgur.com/zuQ9VtS

04:21:754 (1) - no need for this at all, there is no backing sounds here in 1/4 and the buzz slider is 1/8, it does put emphasis on the last vocal note but a circle in place of the slider head then a spinner until the slider tail would feel more rhythmacly correct (could also make into stream in 1/4 --> ). this is also inconsistant with the rest of the map, 02:30:271 (1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10,11,12,13,14,15,16,1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10,11,12,13,14,15,16) - is the same part of the chorus but is a stream

05:00:464 (17,18) - the spacing between 17 and 18 is inconsistant, the increased spacing should be used on a strong sound only or to increase the difficulty to match the songs intencity, you've do this correcty in the rest of the song eg. 04:04:722 (1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,1,2,3,4,1,2,3,4,1) -
05:08:884 (8,9) - ^ same thing

05:24:852 (1) - this does not need to reverse 2 times the vocals make 3 distinct sounds on the first 3 ticks but none on the 4th (you possibly mapped this to the backrounds audio but its very hard to hear so i would reccomend against that.

In gerneral with the streams try to keep them smooth so players can aim them in 1 fluid motion, this only applies to part of the song like this 01:59:302 (1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10,11,12) - which already is smooth and has no stong sounds on the song to change spacing/flow, also be careful when increasing the spacing of your streams only do it during buildup or when the music is more intense.

oh man i feel bad for such a late mod, just wasnt feeling it at all this last week.

first off i love this song

second, this map could be a lot better. i feel its not layed out very well and a lot of stuff is off.

general:

almost all of ur streams are not lined up properly? 00:28:721 (5,6,7,8,9,10,11) - just one example. im sure u used the distance snap to place them, they seem like theyre DSed but not lined up at all.

some weird slider shapes inbetween like 00:43:431 (1) - and 00:45:560 (2) - , especially that second one, like whys there a red anchor in the middle?

spacing on ends of streams, this one 00:55:527 (10,11,12,1) - is less spaced than this beginning one 00:30:753 (10,11,12,1) - whys that? rather same spacing or just do a normal ending

a lot of missing beats. like 01:25:044 - 01:06:657 - 01:18:270 - why is there nothing on these?

00:18:657 (1,2,3) - too big spacing
00:20:206 (1,2,3,4,1,2,3) - stacked badly
00:45:560 (2) - this could end on the next big white tick and add some circles after it so theres not just an emptiness after it

also the transition from 02:05:302 (5,1) - is awkward since its going from a back in forth motion to one right above it, if that makes sense

some weird slider shapes inbetween like 00:43:431 (1) - and 00:45:560 (2) - , especially that second one, like whys there a red anchor in the middle? First one I can't seem to get the same curve with 1 anchor, second one fixed tho.

  2. 01:03:948 (1,2,3,4,5,6) - fix triangle?
  3. 01:29:689 (1,2,1,2) - no need to stack these so that with the break between it's weird to play. Except if that's what you want here
  4. 02:30:271 (1) - I would begin following the other rhythms here already, since following the exact same patterning (for left hand) here essentially fucks up the climax built up by the last chorus stream
  5. 04:21:754 (1) - holy shit make this a lot quieter lol
  6. For the more overall things: make patterning more consistent. Especially those kicksliders reminded me of this. Like somewhere you had them almost next to each other and somewhere very high spacing when the music was about the same. Basically compare 01:55:238 (1,2,3,4,5) - and 05:16:528 (1,2,3,4,5) - for example. Also curved kicksliders like the former example here don't look too good if they aren't blanketed or smth similar making the visually appealing.
  7. Next thing: streams. High CS high spacing streams are hard to make look good all the time, but I think you could do some work here. First of all avoid having turns in the smooth flow of stream when you aren't turning it and when you turn, then NC (basically you did this most of the time) but also try to keep one curve smooth like it would be slider until you change to curve to other one, not lowering and then making it sharper again in the middle. Ofc you need to adjust the shape a little then when the turning point for the curve comes but like example here 05:20:594 (1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10,11,12,13,14,15,16) - the curve lowers in the bottom, and to say, it looks pretty flat. Also for streams and consistency, either have that 2 patterned chorus stream in every chorus or in none (or alternatively only in the last for the last spice ¯\_(ツ)_/¯) but now you showcased it in 2nd chorus but not really in the last one which kinda made no sense imo.
  8. Other things could use little visual work here as well, but since streams are the backbone of this map, begin with em.

I realize that this should a be a proper mod for mod return but this is quite a difficult map for me to mod in the sense that it can be heavily improved in more than a few ways.

First off, the structure of the map is quite lacking. Reason for this is that sometimes you introduce a concept but then don't use it again for the same sounds for example. Some examples of this include: 00:40:915 (1,1) - spaced 1/4 from slider end but not used again.. ever. 01:08:206 (1,2,3,4,1,2,3,4,1,2,3,4,1,2,3,4) - Streamjumps that are never used again for these sounds. Your objects also don't seem to relate well to each other like 05:04:141 (1,2,3,4,5) - are all not really patterned well and this creates a weak structure in your map. Generally patterning things in a consistent way

Secondly, aesthetics are really flawed in the sense of patterning and how your objects don't really have form in them most of the time. You should try to give your patterns and objects more meaning and create nice looking patterns out of them in order to give your map a good aesthetic.

Another thing is that the main rhythm is completely ignored in favor of just constant streams which I don't exactly agree with. There's a lot more interesting things going on in the song yet the non-kiai actually is more interesting in terms of the rhythm you use as opposed to the actual kiai.

I can't really tell you much other than that in all honesty. Going through and pointing out each and every case isn't going to help you because it only applies for this map, but you can improve I think at least from more general points that you can apply to your next maps.

I can't really tell you much other than that in all honesty. Going through and pointing out each and every case isn't going to help you because it only applies for this map, but you can improve I think at least from more general points that you can apply to your next maps.

Again, I'm sorry if this isn't what you expected, but I believe this will help you more. I don't mind getting a mod like this but please give some more examples :/ Not everything obv but enough for me to learn, just this doesn't seem very helpful

Okay, that's fair enough. Let's see here.

03:02:786 (1,2,3,4,5) - Concerning aesthetics and patterning this doesn't really look like it has much meaning. Take for example 2 and 4 and their distance relative to other objects.

What would probably make more sense to do is create something easily recognizable as a pattern:

Here we can see equal visual distance between objects and they all have relative meaning to each other. The 1,2,3 form a triangle of sorts and the 4,5 relate to the 2 by using it as a sort of boundary in the pattern.

Another example would be: 03:08:980 (1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10).


This doesn't seem patterned, it's just made to go with circular flow. Which is fine in essence but it suffers in terms of being clearly recognizable or even leaving a lasting impression on the player. Something like this would be more recognizable (considering you seem to use a lot of symmetry.

Here we can see again equal visual distance (which keeps aesthetics clean) and 1,2,3 all relate to each other with circular motion. The stream behind acts as a sort of blanket for the whole pattern so has relevance to it as well.

Regarding stream shapes, while they might look okay to you and are not objectively wrong, there is much more potential you can bring out. Take 03:18:077 (1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9) - for example.


We can make this a bit cooler by doing something like this:


Here is a more recognizable pattern, and stands out to the player pretty much instantly as a wavy stream. This is what I mean with patterning.

Regarding the rhythm, if you look at the actual ranked version you can see rhythm like this used in the kiai:


This rhythm provides a more concrete connection to the song because it follows the more recognizable aspect of it. While you could argue that streams do follow the song, there are better ways to follow it while still being interesting to play. Pure streaming gets very boring after a while and most players will wonder why the main melody is being ignored.

Well genryuu kaiko is ranked so.....
Yes it's ranked, but the ranked version follows the main/most noticeable instrument of the song and doesn't spam streams throughout the kiai. It creates a more fitting intensity by doing so along with the weird sliders that show a form of intensity due to high slider velocity that is faithful to the song.
