XP-Pen G430?

First off I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this so sorry in advance if it isn't.

My current tablet ,the Huion H420, broke recently and I'm looking for a cheap replacement to keep my going until I can afford a better one. (I'd buy another Huion, but I hate how it's so thick, but small, it is really uncomfortable at times) I've seen the "XP-Pen G430" tablet cropping up here and there and I just want to ask if it really is any good, most reviews I have seen on YouTube claim to be non-biased, but have had the product sent to them for free. If anyone has purchased one is the build quality any good and what is the pen like? I already spent £20 on a replacement, higher quality pen for my now useless Huion so I'd rather not have to buy another one if the pen that comes with the tablet sucks.

Yeah I know I could google these questions, but I'd much rather ask this community about their opinions on it. Sorry again if this is in the wrong section..

Hey [ Ducky ],
bought the XP-Pen 430 a few days ago and own the Huion H420 and Wacom CTL-480s aswell.

Positiv things about the XP-Pen:
+ the pen is light (no battery like the the Huion) and feels nice aswell.
+ the thin design of the tablet is comfortable for the hand

Negativ things about the XP-Pen:
- the pen needs a lot of activation force to register a click -> pressure is needed to draw in programms or scrolling through your map list = feels wierd.
- if you are dragging or resting your hand on the tablet it bends down (cause its so thin and rubber feet are too high/not placed ideal) makes it again feel wierd.

Neutral things about the XP-Pen:
o the usb cable is attached to the tablet and cannot be removed.

Personally i would prefer the Huion over the XP-Pen if you are dragging. If you are hovering its better than the huion (lighter and smaller pen + bending of the tablet is less noticeable)

In conclusion: save for a wacom tablet. 8-)

The wacom tablets are too much of a premium for me. I'd prefer getting the G430 since it has similar latency to the Intuos based on actual reviews.

That's for the info. I drag so the bending issue is a bit of a deal breaker, I might do what you say and save up for a Wacom, I suppose that's the only way to really guarantee quality.

Exactly which Wacom would I get if I was to buy one.

CTL-480 is good enough, or 470

Don't buy Intuos pro if you're only going to use that for osu!. Also, it's very expensive.

Wacom One Graphics tablet - schwarz S https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00NFQ3H3S/ ... BxbT2KCB98

Last quesit,on.

Is this a good enough tablet? This is about what I can afford right now.

Try to get a 'used' Ctl-480s.
Got mine for 38€ but saw some for a cheap 25-35€.
Used tablets are mostly in very good condition so it wouldn't make sense to buy a 'new' one.
Good look finding a tablet :)

Ordered a Wacom CTL-490 from amazon. Good purchase or no? I can always cancel the order.

A lot of people have problems with the 490, especially with the lower hovering height and input lag/responsiveness.

I drag so it shouldn't really be an issue, right?

Well, I guess you could try it out. But if you could find a CTL-480, then choose it.

You might want to browse the internet for more insights about the two tablets.

Yeah I'm going to try it out see what I think, if it's no good I'll just send it back and buy a used CTL-480.

I decided to go with the Wacom and bought myself a CTL490. Really happy with it atm only problem is that because I drag it eats the pen nibs likes nothing so I'll have to look into getting a cover for it.

There are also felt-nibs that take very long to wear off as far as I know.

Im glad you are happy with the Ctl 490 :)
Have the same problem with the pen nibs, can you tell me if the harder pen nibs are worth(if you buy them)

Nah there's no difference, I had that issue as well when looking around for them. Some were labeled "S" and were cheaper than non "S" ones but they are exactly the same there's no size difference or anything.

Btw, im a real beginner when it comes to normal osu!. Should i directly go for the Wacom or buy something cheaper first to see if it fits me? And if so, should i go for the h420 (i dont like thatthe pen needs batteries) or the g430?

And im left handed as well :?

Sorry for not seeing this sooner. Honestly the huion H420 is a good tablet, ThePooN used the h420 for a long time. The only gripe I have with it was the tablet pen is really low quality so I spent £20 on the tablet then an extra £20 to get myself the "premium" rechargeable huion pen so I ended up spending £40 on the h420 when I got my ctl-480 for £30. Honestly if you think you're going to play osu quite a bit investing the extra whatever money into a wacom isn't a bad idea, the tablets are always high quality, had mine for 8 or 9 months now and it's still like new (I have a cover from horo on as well since I drag). And as long as you learn to tap with your right hand you should be fine using your left. You could also take up the challenge of using your right hand to hold the pen since all you're doing is aiming it and not actually writing it may be easier to learn if you're certain you can't tap with right

I have G430 too.. I noticed that different people have different experiences with this tablet so I guess, it's a hit or miss buying this tablet.

- the pen needs a lot of activation force to register a click -> pressure is needed to draw in programms or scrolling through your map list = feels wierd.
Its enough for me to rest my pen on a tablet and it registers light click. So I don't need much force to activate it, feels normal scrolling through songs.

- if you are dragging or resting your hand on the tablet it bends down (cause its so thin and rubber feet are too high/not placed ideal) makes it again feel wierd.
It does bend, but I don't feel it weird (I'm a drager too).

Those rubber feet are very good, with CTL-480 I needed to somehow attach tablet to the table, with G430 rubber feet hold the tablet really well, it's hard for me to move it while I'm dragging.

the usb cable is attached to the tablet and cannot be removed.
That's a bummer to me, because I like to take my osu! gear with me.

Additional negative for me is:
- Pen nibs are falling off with light shake, so I had to hack nibs (widened the hole in the nib by sticking small screw driver in it) and now they hold really well

Positives:
- No input lag on my PC, feels like CTL-480 with old drivers. (however on my work laptop input lag is terrible, this might be because I haven't installed drivers on it)

Well in conclusion if my G430 dies/breaks I will buy another one, I love this one more then CTL-480.

Of course I want to try out H420 or just 420, but I'm waiting for osu! store restock, cause I want one with osu! logo :>. PM me if you want to sell your white one.

I suggest looking around a bit, I got my ctl-480 from a store chain called CEX in the UK that deals in 2nd hand items, even though it was "2nd hand" it was like new and came with the box and everything and honestly I don't think it'd ever been opened. If you look around you may be able to get it for a lot cheaper.

I just got the G430 today and it's pretty hard to use for me since i was a mouse user previously and just wondering, anyone with the G430 can you give me your Work Area details?
Like the height , width , Offset X and Y.

You may want an even smaller area to work with. In which case you should drag the bottom left square to the up-right more. Just make sure you press "Screen Ratio" every time before you apply changes so it isn't off. Don't worry too much about the offset.

May I ask? Why to the top right more? The tablet is small and when you do that, your hand is going to be out of the tablet which i'm not sure if that's suppose to happen but just asking why no offence

Oh, I'm left handed. :P I forget most other people aren't... So I play with the tablet turned 180 degrees. Put the area wherever you're comfortable.
