I look at Off-Topic and see that OzzyOzrock has already made a thread like this, which I thought about while half asleep last night, but oh well.

I have a couple of rules to this thing.

1. The post below this post starts a topic. Said topic must be intelligent in some way, contrary to the usual random hurrdurr we see in this forum. Be it creative, a potential interesting debate, or whatever you want, as long as an interesting conversation could keep going from it.

2. The user who created the topic that stays on topic for the longest time gets 1 year of supporter status from me. Before you ask, no, that part is not true. I'm trolling.
This little game will run until the 23rd of February where I'll decide the winner.

Happy derailing, and poot OzzyOzrock's thread. I will not derail anything in this thread.

An asteroid named Apophis, after the Egyptian god of death and destruction, is speeding toward Earth. And there's a chance that, after it swings terrifyingly close to Earth in 2029, it might make a return trip in 2036 that could spell disaster akin to Armageddon for much of the world.

There is a large asteroid, made entirely of iron, currently speeding toward earth. Discovered in 2004, it’s called “Apophis,” after the Greek-Egyptian god of death and destruction. And the asteroid named after a god of death will be the largest and closest thing to come near Earth than any other object in recorded history. It will come so close, in fact, that it will actually be closer to the ground than orbiting communications satellites. It will be seeable with the naked eye as a point of intense light burning across the sky.

When will it pass near Earth? April 13, 2029. A Friday.

But that’s not even the scariest part.

Scientists are nearly certain that the asteroid won’t hit when it swings by in 2029. But there’s a possibility that, if Earth’s gravity affects the asteroid’s path enough, it will swing back around the Sun and strike the Earth on April 13, 2036.

So, if Apophis does hit Earth in 2036, where, exactly, will it hit?

It simply depends on how much Earth’s gravity pulls on Apophis. But scientists are fairly certain that the asteroid would hit in one of 3 large areas. The first–and most likely–would be an impact in the Pacific Ocean, just off the coast of California. This would result in a double shockwave of water screaming toward the West Coast of the United States, effectively vaporizing anything in its path for miles inland.

The second likely area of impact would be in the great forests of north Russia. Any impact in that area would start a massive fire that would burn millions of acres, spilling tons of ash and debris into the air and plunging the Northern Hemisphere into darkness.

The third impact zone (and the least likely) would place the asteroid striking somewhere southeast of the Dominican Republic. An impact there would wipe out populations on the islands of the Caribbean, as well as those population centers along the easterly coasts of the United States and Mexico, Northwest Africa, and the eastern coasts of Central and South America.

NASA, though, maintains that the chance of the asteroid swinging around and hitting Earth in 2036 is remote, with odds of about 1 in 45,000.

How reassuring are those odds? Those odds–the odds that humanity is now seeing its last days and knows the end of the world (or Armageddon)–are the same odds given to scoring a hole-in-one on a typical golf course.

Among the most common uniforms in uniform fetish are those of a schoolgirl, nurse, French maid, waitress, cheerleader and Playboy Bunny. Do you have a uniform fetish, off-topic?

On 24 February 2010 the Metropolitan government submitted a proposed revision to the Ordinance that would restrict sexually provocative depictions of fictional characters who appear to be under 18 years of age, referred to in the bill as "non-existent youths" (非実在青少年, hijitsuzai seishõnen?). The bill received strong opposition from manga creators, the publishing industry, the Writers Guild of Japan and the Japan Federation of Bar Associations, and was rejected by the Metropoiltan Assembly on 16 June 2010

It's not a complete removal, just a censor thing.
They will mark sexual stuff 18+ if it is uncensored, and censor it if they want to reach everyone.

I find it interesting since in Australia a while ago, there was a bill being pushed that banned the use of flat chested women in porn magazines believing that it was similar enough to child pornography in order to be considered illegal. However I believe it their plea was used as toilet paper, although it wouldn't surprise me if an issue about the appearance of girls in anime would rise in Australia as well sometime in the future.

as you know im not really a huge fan of the loli craze myself, but creating laws to limit imagination can only end up hurting more than helping. as with everything once a law is passed will it be abused and used just to destroy a industry. japan should be helping the industry within this time of crisis, not trying to destroy parts of culturewhat define japan from other country's (the more seedy parts of a culture are normally what are remembered most unfortunately).

there is better ways to try and change how an industry works than pretty much trying to kill the imagination it runs from, with the backlash what has been happening lately from japan it also shows how much of a bad idea this is in the long term.

in short, i can understand the merit behind such a change, but i do think it is being done in the wrong way and all japan is gonna end up doing is creating a lot more disorder in the industry rather than improving it

Basically I agree with what jericho said. Do you need to censor? Perhaps, but not in a way that would ruin a very big industry.

Let's discuss the validity of people claiming a "waifu" from an anime character.

Any of you lonely enough to do such a thing? I know I've considered it a few times.
