AIMod Check
Compress audio to at most 192 Kbps (can be done using Audacity) and ask me for a timing recheck after that. Saving an MP3 usually adds some extra milliseconds of offset to the beginning.
Resize BG to 1366x768 or less.
Your map needs a preview point.
Make sure to add hitsounds to your map, because they are a requirement for ranking!
00:11:047 (1) - Slider arts in the beginning of maps are cool, but maybe you could take the opportunity to represent something in the song (like drawing a teardrop shape to represent crying, or something like that). Up to you.
Right now this slider ends on a blue tick, which doesn't make sense and is probably not what you want. Try to pick a logical endpoint for your slider art. Personally, I would make the slider 7 beats long, resulting in a "click, wait (1 beat), click" rhythm from the player before the next measure.
00:11:047 (1, 2) - To make it look nicer, try not to have the slider border touch each other, and definitely don't have the slider track touch itself unless it's actually going to cross over itself.
00:32:304 (3) - Don't use grid snap to create streams. That results in a jagged appearance and reduced playability. Use distance snap or the Convert Slider to Stream tool to create streams.
00:32:904 (10, 1) - Inconsistent spacing. If this is meant to be a jump, well, it isn't. Either reduce or increase the spacing to do what you meant it to do.
00:32:990 (1) - Slider end unsnapped, which is unrankable. Also, green line unsnapped.
00:36:076 (3, 4) - How come you decided not to map the beat here?
00:39:333 (1) - When you don't have a lot of room to work with (as is the case with short sliders like these), it's usually best to keep things simple. The wave shape here doesn't add much IMO. Also, if you're planning to reuse a slider shape, you might find it helpful to copy it and rotate/flip rather than remake it, so things stay consistent.
00:42:590 (1) - I think you should add a hitcircle and start the spinner 1/4 beat later so you can have a hitsound on the finish here.
01:04:533 (3) - Start the spinner 1/4 beat later so you can put a hitcircle here.
01:11:904 (4) - What is the repeat mapped to?
01:14:647 (4) - What is the slider end mapping?
01:36:590 (4) - Shorten this slider by 1/4 beat so it can end on the white tick.
01:49:790 (1) - Shorten this slider by 1/4 beat so it matches the piano.
01:56:304 (8) - I think starting a stream here can help emphasize the drop because of the period of calm between 02:00:761-02:03:333. This is totally subjective, though.
02:08:647 (6) - I understand that you're trying to map the vocal here. However, it means that you can't map the strong bass beat in the background. If you want to bring forth both, you can try using a 1/1 slider, a hitcircle on the red tick, and another 1/1 slider. That way the player can tap the beat while still holding the slider for the vocal sounds.
02:23:733 (5) - I don't think this should repeat more than once. After the big white tick, the music is completely silent except for the vocals (which don't have a 1/4 rhythm).
02:36:590 (1) - Lengthen this slider by 1/4 beat so the slider end lands on the beat.
03:12:076 (1) - If the purpose of this slider is to give the player a rest from tapping, it probably doesn't need to be so long. In a song like this, repeat sliders can be useful to emphasize held/vocal notes while keeping the beat.
03:20:218 (32) - 32 combo.. On a stream you can NC every 8 notes (2 beats) to keep the combo numbers under control.
03:22:704 (1) - Lengthen this spinner by 1/2 beat so that the spinner ends on the big white tick.
03:24:761 (1) - This slider has a different hitsound volume than all the ones after it. Also, hitsounds in this section are too quiet IMO.
03:55:704 (1) - Make this slider 1 beat long to match the vocals. Also, you should probably do something to telegraph the change to a blue tick here (check Charles445's
video about "polarity" in mapping).
03:56:647 (1) - You should place a note here to match the vocals.
04:05:304 (2, 3, 4) - The beat spacing of these notes is 5/4, then 3/4. (Since it's irregular, you should probably do something with the spacing to make it easier to read.)
05:30:590 (1) - You should move this spinner 1/4 beat ahead so you can map the kick with a hitcircle.
Here are some things to focus on: (I probably only listed one or two instances in the mod above, but they appear many times in the map, so make sure to go through and fix them!)
- Unsnapped sliderends, usually paired with unsnapped green lines.
- Jagged streams caused by grid snap.
- Neatness of slider shapes.
- Beat placement and consistency of rhythm.
- NC structure and NC during streams.
Some further notes:
- As long as you only have one anchor point in a slider (excluding the start and end), it will automatically create a perfect arc. If you add more than one point, the slider will convert to a Bezier algorithm, which will not be perfect. So if all you want is a simple curve, use only one point.
- Here is a useful guide on creating neat sliders and here are a few examples on creating nice wave sliders.
Good luck with your map!
