I have to interrupt your jams (but not spill them!) by asking how to determine if a song is pop for sure. It's not on wikipedia, and even tho the artist is supposed to be "j-pop" i'm a bit worried that it seems like rock. D:
I'm also sure that others will have similar problems when searching for their pop song, but im going on holiday soon so i will record it now just in case

Isn't it both? If the song is pop genre, chances are it should be sang the "pop" way, and if something is sang the pop way it's probably a pop song

It would be hard to get away from broad genres for stages because anything more specific might favor certain languages or something. We could maybe do a "love songs" category or similar things that focus more on content of the song than actual genre.
Love songs is even more broad than pop.
Especially since the majority of pop songs seems to be about love anyway, lol.
