mapping is fun (sometimes)
I'm currently mapping, just that find guys that can help me with those maps is very hard
mapping serves as an outlet for my love of music
The only thing that keeps me from really starting is that i can't give my imagination "form"
Since I'm someone who mainly wants to get into CTB mapping the main problem
i have is to grasp the conversion of Hitobjects from STD to CTB.. i mean, i know their positioning
but i can't for the love of god get it in my brain how long the slider has to last to give me the curvature and length i want..
plus if i have to tidbit every object in Test-mode to see their positioning&Shape then it just fells like a waste of time for me..
If there'll be a CTB Editor in the future then i'll probably really start to invest time in learning how to map propperly

The main reason why I am mapping is simply because I love music and also because mapping CtB is a lot of fun for me.
Tho yeah, the current editor is probably "meh" for people who are thinking about mapping CtB. The best thing is when people tell you that they enjoyed your map xd
I've always wanted to map songs that I love or find myself fond of after some time listening to them.
I've actually tried to map a few times, but it has always ended with me giving up... That's because, once the notes are on the timeline, I'm not imaginative enough to create patterns, or I'm never satisfied with what I do.

I currently map actively~ still is fun for me after several mapsets~

I am mapping currently. But sometimes I get bored of mapping.

I balance my mapping skills with my playing skills so I can also improve at testplaying.
I still make maps today, but I don't really play osu! anymore (unless I'm bored or test-playing)
i usually map maps that is on my level (5.5-6.5* mania maps) so i can rate it personally. but sometimes i can go crazy :^)
Currently I'm trying to take the stuff i like playing and stuff them into different styles to make my solo sets more interesting

I'm a fairly active mapper, still learning but I'm getting there. Right now I mostly map to improve on my mapping style, also trying to map cs6 every now and then.
Mapping is a really great way to express how you portray what a song would feel like, let it be overmapped 1/2 spam triangles or intricated rhythmic patterns, its a blank canvas with the only brush being your mouse and keyboard.

it's fun to map because you can play on every music you want imo

What I like about mapping is to produce playable charts of my favorite songs for one of my favorite games, and then hear what other people think about them. Feedback keeps me motivated to keep doing it, and it's a really great feeling to improve at something that you like doing.

Playing and mapping o!m on and off, but I can say I tend to spend an equal time doing both nowadays.

While I have seen quite some maps that ARE oriented towards triangles and super easy high star rating maps, I still think that mapping can be an expression of the song. Of course there's only so much you can do with circles and sliders, but that's where creativity comes in.
By all means i do not see myself as a good mapper, But some mappers out there are really good at showing what a song can mean with just circles and sliders and the additional spinner.
I myself want to map, Not because to get anything ranked really (not that i think ranked isn't good, because that'd be great, Ranked AND being a really good map) But so that I can make a beatmap that other players may enjoy.

So far I've got one song done well, but it was the Expert that was done well, and I need to get the other difficulties done as well as the Expert.
I was trying to map a Love Live song by the way, but I decided to scrap that since I quit Love Live. Now I don't know what to map to continue improving my mapping style... (that is not Fuzzy Future, since I'm already working on it as a means of improving my style)

Yes I am mapping and it's fun but sometimes boring xD
Probably 90-95% of my time spent on osu is in the editor, either mapping, modding or testing. I really enjoy the freedom of creativity, and if, at the end, you have something you can be proud of, something that other people like, it's a great feeling to know that you contributed to the growth of the game.
Currently mapping mostly CtB as we lack in maps and modders but also some Std, plus that one all-mode set that I will rank eventually... stares into the distance
