Sprites?

I know I'm going to sound stupid, but what is a sprite, and why won't it let me do anything about browsing for one? This is my first time making a beatmap, so help is much appreciated!
And don't say "LOOK IN THE FAQS" because I tried that already and found nothing.

Sprites are only used in beatmaps when you want to make a storyboard (some moving images on the screen) Sprites are simply the images that you want to use in your map, so they can be almost anything.

All you need to do is find whatever image you want to use on the internet, put that image in your beatmap folder, then go to the design tab and click sprite library and you can use it in your map~

However for your first beatmap I would recommend focusing on learning the basics of mapping before you worry too much about storyboarding
