Hello everyone :) (Most likely Derekku since he is awesome about helping out people in this forum)

As part of my modding queue project, I have recently been acquiring a fair sum of kudosu, which brings me to a few etiquette questions about the use of kudosu stars. As we all know, most people use kudosu to add kudosu stars on to their own maps, but is that not considered a proper use of kudosu? I ask because it might seem selfish to see someone constantly adding kudosu to their own map, or a beatmap with +20 SP only to find it's some guy who made 10 kudosu stars. Thanks for taking the time to answer my question, the community here seems very kind. Most of the time...

Bonus Question!
If my beatmap is
4:14 total
3:44 drain
can it still get ranked? Also, what will be the drawbacks of having a longer beatmap other than obvious fatigue issues?

I think your map could make it. Usually, the fatigue is the only thing bad about a long map. Well, I think...

I don't know much about kudosu etiquette though... :c

EDIT: Wait what's the draining time? Pretty sure that's a big thing.

Nobody should care how you use kudosu stars. You're the one that earned them, after all. In fact, I've never seen someone bring it up regarding usage like that before. However, some MATs and BATs may be reluctant to mod a map that hasn't been modded at all and only has a high priority because it was pink starred to death.

Maps of that length can be ranked, but consider shortening them. If the score is too high (10-20 million max), it may also have trouble being ranked.

General score guidelines:
<10m = Great!
10-12m = Can the mp3 be cut to make it shorter and more fun? if not, then check with any experienced BAT but not peppy.
12-20m = Same as above, and check difficulty is hard enough that score is not so attainable.
20m+ = rare cases, for insane difficulties which have max attainable scores <=15m

oh hi :) (moved to the correct forum)

kd stars: It really doesn't matter how you use them, but like Jarby said, no one's gonna want to mod a map that's only been spammed with pink stars. That also doesn't apply to the +8 requirement for bubbling.

map length: ~4 minutes is fine as long as the score isn't too high. Try to shoot for something under 16M score, since anything higher would be too simple to obtain for an easy insane that just happens to be long. Anything higher in score should be left for very hard insanes that are still rankable but hard to obtain such a high score.
