in a near future this community will soon realize that moderation is largely useless and will become the first large autonomous community on the internet to manage itself without the need for moderation or repression: much like ancient greece, the ones deemed unfit by the community will be ostracized and every decision will be made with the overwhelming approval of said community.

8chan has a system where anyone can create their own board and rule over it as they see fit, and the global mods never interfere in anything except stuff that violates national law. Not saying we need something exactly like that, but something a little bit more democratic would be nice. Right now this site is basically a full on dictatorship.

Pretty much every community on the internet is moderated some way. I never said it shouldn't be moderated. What I'm saying is that mods should serve the users instead of ruling over them with unchecked authority.Ephemeral wrote:

Sometimes you will have a period where there are no mods, then suddenly they will show up and start locking threads and handing out silences for completely arbitrary reasons. Having a debate about something? *mod locks thread*. Say something that might possible potentially hurt someone's fee fees? *300 hour silence*. Multiple threads being spammed in the wrong place of the forums? *ignores*
And of course, peppy and you are too arrogant to change anything, because of course the GMT and staff are completely infallible and would never abuse their unchecked power to do whatever they like because reasons. Oh that's right, I forgot, the behavior of the GMT are reviewed by other people in power. What a perfect system, I cannot see any possible flaws whatsoever.
