It does a difference. Anyway, if you agree with that statement made by Ascendance, we can also turn the map down by now so you can fix it.

The timing should also be revised thouroughly and will probably be discussed internally before making a final statement on it. I'm getting offset differences of 15-20ms in different sections after checking it closely on the editor (and I assumed it was a plain 180BPM song). In fact, after the qualification I played the map more intensively so I found out that after the break time I performed way better changing the local offset.

Even Ascendance being a dick blunt with his comments, the qualification period is the perfect time so players TESTPLAY your beatmap. It's materially impossible to get your map checked by everybody within the community before the qualification, so you should expect their opinions whether they liked your beatmap or not and furthermore if it needs to be more polished.

With everything said, take your time answering Yuii-'s post as well and change the points you agreed on with Ascendance's mod.

Hey, really fast comment. Offset is indeed off by around ~9~12 ms. Probably, I will fix it.

Also (both comments are on the highest difficulty) 01:37:063 (9,10) - these should have been 1/8, not 1/6. In fact I don't even know why (10) is being mapped, it's not even worth mapping; would consider keeping it as only 1 object. Fine
Would also like to add something that Ascendance didn't mention: 00:42:896 (3,4,5) - this pattern has equal spacing when (5) should clearly be more emphasized. Changed the pattern, fixed.
Not to mention that the flow is kinda abrupt if you are going for the back-and-forth in such a snappy pattern. I mean, it's being inconsistent with 00:44:063 (3,4,5) - anyway when they are supposed to be somewhat similar? I don't get it because 00:44:063 (3,4,5) - and 00:42:896 (3,4,5) - don't have the same timeline. The abrupt flow is wanted, there is clearly a shift to deeper tones in the music so it's consistent.

Other than that, map is very solid!
Thanks, I also fixed some spacing like 01:22:646 (2,3) - to make it more readable. Hope it's better now.

It seems like there's a misunderstanding of what the qualified section is for. Too late is when it's in the ranked section, your set was not ranked. The exact purpose of the qualified section is to make a larger audience aware of the map, and give it time to see if there are any issues that need to be solved before being ranked. Yuii was actually early, he commented on it just after it was qualified. Qualifying is not the "it's done and finished there is nothing that should be improved or changed" part of the process.

You can simplify the name of the bg, it doesn't need to be that long

Furely's Overdose
00:06:562 (1,1) - Directly stacking after a 1/1 is difficult to follow because of momentum. The hyper causes player to end up to the right of where the fruit is, so the player has to go left to be ablle to catch the next fruit, but has to press right again quickly directly after to follow flow. This creates a lot of key presses in a section where almost nothing is happening in the music.

00:01:230 (3,1) - This pattern is fine. There is no emphasis put on the part where there is no sounds, and gives enough leniency to flow


00:04:229 (2,3) - This pattern however, requires an extra key press due to how it's organised and the large distance. This is over-mapping the section by how it's played, and should be simplified.

00:12:452 (3,4) - What happened to the hypers here, the current pattern implies that 4 has identical importance compared to 3. This is inconsistent with the later identical sections such as 00:14:451 (9,1) - and 00:15:118 (3,4) - , which also use difficult flow to emphasise this even further.
00:18:229 (4) - There are drums here that should be mapped, since you've changed focus from violins to bass here.
00:20:007 (2) - I can't 100% tell because I don't have headphones, but I'm fairly sure there's no sound here to map
00:31:229 (5,6,7) - Edge dashes should not be used in conjunction with hypers, it's one of the guidelines from the ranking criteria. It's an easy edge dash, but it's still an edge dash. You'll need to either change it or explain why it's like this and why the quality of the set would be lowered if it was changed.

00:54:563 (1,2) - ^ It's not walkable, although this is lesser extent because it's 1/1

00:07:118 (3,4) - Avoid major composition differences in similar sections. The basic spacing and rhythm should be similar, while patterning can vary. This ensures that rhythm and intensity in all similar sections reflect a song similarly. - Ranking Criteria

If you're going to innovate the ranking criteria, do it outside the ranked section. Respond to Ascendance's mod properly since he's covered basically everything.

Laws and codes of ethics establish minimum standards of behavior, but not the maximum. And sometimes the more important things than the rules exist for our community, especially in this ctb community.

Do not force your opinion which is having relative and abstract concept like 'better', 'well', 'poor design'. It shall be better for you, but could be not for the mapper itself. It doesn't help anything to mapper and also the whole ctb mapping community tbh. And also if modder made a reason with an abstract expression then mapper also can reply with an abstract expression. Cuz the modder deserved.

Just my 2 cents.

Eh, I still don't like the AR9 on this difficulty at all. Every pattern is designed for a slightly lower one an it was much better to play it with that. :c

Guys, there is a clear and global misunderstanding regarding Rules and Guidelines. Guidelines are must be followed and they are just as strong as Rules. The only difference is that Guidelines could be broken under special circumstances with a really good reason. This means "it is my style" or "I like it this way" is not an acceptable reason at all while "I mapped this way to avoid repetitive rhythms and if you recognize the timeline repeats itself at every second stanza" is.

I already explained to Kyuare that his patterns are not matters as long as the spacing and timeline is consistent. There is no need to keep pointing this out at all. Instead, provide useful information when you raise concerns about a certain part from the map.

The only reason they aren't on the CtB one is because the std one is newer. Things from the std rules are still enforced in CtB maps despite not being in our rules. Not following one of the guidelines in the std guidelines is a viable reason to DQ a map aside from 5, 6, 9 and 15

That said, this is starting to get offtopic from the set

Excuse me? osu! and osu!catch is two entirely different mode and their rules does not affect each other in any way. You are mistaking osu! RC with General RC. While it is true that the currently discussed guideline should be in the osu!catch one as well, it is not currently so it is not necessary to follow it either and forcing it is actually makes no sense but you can still explain it to mappers and tell them why it could be better to actually follow it.

@JBHyperion brought up a discussion since the osu! RC is live so we will re-view it and see which points could be added into our Guidelines as well. There is no need to discuss this here and now.

You can simplify the name of the bg, it doesn't need to be that long

Furely's Overdose
00:06:562 (1,1) - Directly stacking after a 1/1 is difficult to follow because of momentum. The hyper causes player to end up to the right of where the fruit is, so the player has to go left to be ablle to catch the next fruit, but has to press right again quickly directly after to follow flow. This creates a lot of key presses in a section where almost nothing is happening in the music. Maybe for Rain players, but Overdose players can control when they need stop or continue. This is not difficult to follow because it's a 1/1, players will have the time to analyze the situation and stop here.

00:01:230 (3,1) - This pattern is fine. There is no emphasis put on the part where there is no sounds, and gives enough leniency to flow


00:04:229 (2,3) - This pattern however, requires an extra key press due to how it's organised and the large distance. This is over-mapping the section by how it's played, and should be simplified. We can't call that over-mapping since beat actually exist here, the extra movement is here to introduce the player for the next pattern because the more the music continues, the more the intensity increases
that on top of creating really awkward flow stops there. The pattern should be changed a little as well as other similar ones in the next section
00:12:452 (3,4) - What happened to the hypers here, the current pattern implies that 4 has identical importance compared to 3. This is inconsistent with the later identical sections such as 00:14:451 (9,1) - and 00:15:118 (3,4) - , which also use difficult flow to emphasise this even further. Because it's a new santza, Furely mapped it to avoid repetitive patterns.
00:18:229 (4) - There are drums here that should be mapped, since you've changed focus from violins to bass here. Yes, indeed

If you're going to innovate the ranking criteria, do it outside the ranked section. Respond to Ascendance's mod properly since he's covered basically everything.

i think the map is fine to be honest, its not perfect and i feel like it would be possible to polish it even further at some parts but it looks like rank quality to me

00:52:896 (7,8,9,10) - This one deserves to get longer distance with its pitch transition on 00:52:979 (8,9) - so try to make more distance at least longer than 00:52:813 (6,7) .

It's impossible to achieve a "perfect" beatmap that'd please everybody. Thousands of players would have different ideas on how to polish a beatmap, but I'm with you that this one deserves to be qualified again.

Timing was doublechecked and it feels more accurate, odd snaps in Chronos were fixed and its gameplay improved a bit more with the last mods you got in it. With all said, I'm confident to push the beatmap forward again:

  1. 00:56:896 (4) - x:240 seems like a bit more of a comfortable distance here, such a sharp antiflow could be potentially jarring to the player
  2. 01:02:229 (4) - x:208 for the same above reason, if you could!
  3. 01:03:563 (1) - x:352 for consistent distance with 01:03:229 (1,2) - ? Looks nicer imo!

Then if you look at your maps, on the Zerosiki Material - Love for example you can see a large part of his chest, as well as a much lighter outfit than the background of Kyuare...
In my opinion Zerosiki (and many others*) have a background that is less safe for work than Chronoxia...
So I think there is no need to change the background personally.

@Pyrzhe Just saying that the 4 maps you listed are all from 2013 or earlier - standards change, we have to change too. You can't judge current maps based on old rules and criteria.

That being said, I don't see anything overtly suggestive or sexual about this particular background, nor was there any such intention in the case of Zerosiki.

Bg seems fine to me too, will recheck later on today (also I think ascendance may have been joking with that comment)

Also as usual, MorsayFanGirl provides nothing of use to the conversation and is subsequently making himself look worse by ignoring everything except the stuff he can pour salt over 👀

Let's also remember that we can't use past ranked maps as references in any circumstance. Each map must be addressed individually. Obviously, it was my mistake, I wanted to mod this before it was qualified again and I was absolutely exhausted so there are bound to be some errors.

Furely told me that he really want to keep these pattern as it is, objectively it will be really tricky since we already have fully horizontal sliders just before, which increased the intensity a lot. Making them fully horizontal would be "too much" and will sometimes cause a shitmiss.
