  • Appearance, Flow & Transition:
  1. Some patterns are really repetitive and could be at least rearranged a bit to spice them up. The concluding pattern for example could've been arrange better. 03:12:574 (1,2,3) - could be swapped so they whole triangles are not always on the right side. A crtl + G would fit good here. Makes it less repetitive. Same here 00:15:621 (1,2,3,4,1,2,3,4,1,2,3,4,1,2,3,4) - playing the same pattern for 4 times is boring I am sorry you feel this way, but the song clearly speaks for some repetitive patterns. I personally find a lot of enjoyment in them, so I will definitely keep them.

    Spacing:
  2. Almost the same visual spacing between 00:11:871 (1,2) - for 1/2 elements that is the spacing for 00:11:401 (6,7) - 1/4 elements. http://puu.sh/rnjs7/24fbaee6da.jpg http://puu.sh/rnjsN/85be06648c.jpg This is misleading and can cause the player to play 00:11:871 (1,2) - as a 1/4 pattern. You need to move 00:12:105 (2) - further away to grant better readability. Same for 00:12:574 (3,4) - 00:13:277 (1,2) - For reference: 00:23:121 (1,2) - 00:22:535 (2,3) - is much better. As you can hear, 00:11:401 (6,7,1) - is stressed a lot by the song. I wanted to create a unique effect by having an antijump right after - because the song is not that stressed anymore there. It makes perfectly sense with the song. 00:12:105 (2,3,4) - These need no fix either, because the effective movement you will have here is almost the same, as you can basically leave slider 2 immediately. 00:13:277 (1,2,1) - Is stressed again, so that speaks for itself. Comparing it with the others is weird, because it's a different part.
  3. 00:54:527 (5,6,1) - 00:58:277 (4,5,1) - 02:44:214 (2,3,4) - 02:46:089 (2,3,4) - 01:39:527 (4,5,1) - Spacing should be the same between them for consistency, readability and appearance. But what about the song? The last two words are always stressed in a special way. "Shut up" goes together, 00:58:511 (5,1) - "My destiny" goes together, and so on.
  4. 01:48:902 (1,2,1) - Small spacing inconsistency that should be fixed for 01:49:136 (2) - http://puu.sh/rnjUA/34b8667391.png What's the matter?
  5. 03:05:425 (5,6) - The downbeat "jump" here 03:05:777 (6,1) - has smaller spacing than the 5 to 6 jump but the downbeat "jump" is with mapped as 1/2, whereas the 5 to 6 is a 1/4 beat pattern. This is really irritating and the downbeat spacing/jump should be increased here. Better at 03:07:886 (7,1) - for example if you compare 03:07:300 (5,6) - 03:07:886 (7,1) - with the ones mentioned. If you compare those, you can see that the vocals are additionally supporting your other mentioned examples.
  6. 00:48:902 (1,2) - Spacing between them is bigger than 00:49:136 (2,1) - so the spacing has to be increased between 2 and 1 since the pattern is played with a 1/4 rhythm. Since you used different SV for the 1/4 sliders you need to use the same visual spacing between them. Adjust this. Unlike in other cases, you can't immediately leave this slider here (it seems to me), so you have to a bit to the right. This will create enough distance to the downbeat slider, and if you want even a movement change.
  7. 00:53:121 (1,2) - Another misleading spacing here. The spacing between the 1/2 elements 00:53:589 (2,3) - is only slightly bigger than between the jump that you used for the 1/4 pattern 00:53:121 (1,2) - . It perfectly plays fine, have you even testplayed my map?... :(

Make them the same in the KIAI, it's still an exciting section, why this spacing decrease? Vocals drop out, you can create awesome feelings without having big spacing as well.. vocals make everything a lot stronger.

    Rhythm & Pattern:
  12. 00:43:863 (6) - Overmapped much? There is literally nothing in the song that support this circle. It's an empty note. Same for 01:24:058 (3,4,6) - 02:05:308 (3,4,6) - Agreeing with the first mentioned points, changed the volume in those sections. Disagreeing with the others, the peak gets really emphasized by this kind of rhythm.
  13. 00:42:808 (3,4) - The rhythm is wrong here. The proper rhythm would be exactly the opposite http://puu.sh/rnjyg/548843a07e.jpg The vocal "arm" is from 00:42:808 - to 00:43:160 - and here 00:43:277 - is a clearly audible drum sound. There is nothing else to map to here 00:42:925 - because the vocal AND the drum is at 00:42:808 - so the rhythm in the picture is the only option if you want to map it like that. Same for 01:24:058 (3,4,6) - 02:05:308 (3,4,6) - 02:12:808 (3,4) - It's not, as the peak of his emphasis can be emphasized like that.

Same for 00:39:996 (1,2,1,2,1,2,1,2) - Remove all the NCs Same for the other patterns: Remove NC at 01:19:136 (1) - 01:19:839 (1,1,1) - 01:21:714 (1,1,1) - After all, 01:25:230 (1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8) - this is also perfectly readable without combo spam right? Otherwise you'd have to do the same thing for this too, which is wrong. Same here 02:01:324 (1,1) - everything is 100% readable and has the same spacing. No need for wrong NC indication and spam. Remove NC

Technically you need a NC at 02:14:214 (2) - 02:14:683 (4) - 02:15:152 (6) - 02:15:386 (2) - for spacing change and indication. Apart from the spacing being incorrect, since it's a 1/2 pattern that has spacing changes, the pattern plays fine but exactly because of the changes it needs indication, even if it's symmetrical. This for example 02:15:855 (1,2,3,4) - is fine because it's the same spacing.
  19. 02:39:292 (4) - Clearly visible spacing change so NC here as indicator.
  20. 02:17:730 (2) - 01:28:980 (2) - 00:47:730 (2) - Technically, you need a NC on these cus the downbeat is 02:17:496 - here and the NC at 02:17:261 (1) - is only to indicate the SV change, which is fine.
  21. 02:49:371 (1,2,3,4,5,1,2,3,4,5) - You NCd this wrong again and ignored the spacing and NCd to your pattern instead. This is how it should be: NC at 02:50:074 (5) - Remove at 02:50:308 (1) - (spacing between 02:50:308 (1,2,4,5) - is nearly the same so thats fine)
  22. 03:09:761 (4,5,6,1,2,3,4,5,6,1,2,3,4) - ^ NC at 03:09:996 (6) - for the downbeat, remove NC at 03:11:167 (1) - since it's 4 beats 03:09:996 (6,1,2,3,4,5,6,1,2,3,4) - which is your usual combo pattern. It's also perfectly readable and the same spacing between 03:10:933 (6,1) - so no need for NC Fixed that one.
  23. 00:31:558 (1) - NC is not necessary here actually. It's not even on a downbeat and the sentence of the lyrics has not finished yet.

    Some words about the NCing, as I fixed only one of your suggestions.. First of all, I do not think any of these are spammed. Placing a NC to emphasize a special pattern is completely okay. You've also called some of my combos spammed, even though it's splitted into 6 and 7 combos.. this doesn't make a lot of sense to me. The others basically weren't removed because it clearly wants to emphasize the vocals, I hope you can understand my thoughts a bit better now.
A lot of copy paste so if I missed something apply the same for any other patterns that you copy pasted. Like other Insanes of yours better than this one :c

I find it quite sad that we can't agree on how I hear and mapped this song, but I hope that my explanations made sense to you. I really thank you for your time though, I REALLY appreciate it!

The orange rhythm fits perfectly with the melody.

The volume should be determined with equal music and effect volume in the settings.
If that is the argument, let me just say people who want louder hitsounds can decrease the music volume and increase the master volume.

Do you really not see the problem in that argument? If somebody wants hitsounds at 50% of the volume intended by osu! by default, they can set the effects volume down to the level they like. 100% Hitsounds Volume = 100% Music Volume. Decreasing the music volume is not an option in a music-based game like this.

It's a problem because the volume of the music cannot and SHOULD not be sacrificed for everyone, just to meet your personal preference for hitsounds that are too soft. 100% is 100%.

The method I said is something like the middleground, and then you can change the settings in your client as you please.

You didn't say anything like the middle ground. One side just says that the full volume should be at full volume, and the other says "No, we want it soft so you must have it soft as well, and if you don't like it, lower the music's volume instead". You're at one extreme, not middle ground.

Take for example Up All Night by Owl City, mapped by FrostxE. At the start, the hitsound volume is set at a whopping 10%, which next to nobody, even the softest hitsound people, can hear. And then it rises to a maximum of 85%. Even songs with an unreasonably large dip in hitsound volume peak at a volume of at least 80%. This map peaks at 50%, which is a much lower and much more unacceptable volume. Now, I am in no way condoning setting the hitsound volume down to 10%; I hate when mappers do that, because at that point I can't hear what I'm doing. What I am saying is, though, is 50% is unacceptable as the peak volume.

I disagree with the pattern in Normal. Lots of mouse players play Normal, and that pattern is very tricky to read and play on mouse. Possibly on Hard, but not in Normal, IMHO.

  2. 00:39:527 (2,3,4) - they don't really sync with the drums/vocls. The drums have some sort of a peak on 00:40:464 - and mapping that part with a slidertail doesn't make much sense. Try some rhythm like this?
  3. 00:56:871 (1) - would be pretty cool to make it symmetrical with 00:54:996 (1) - as the whole pattern is sort of built around symmetry.
  4. 01:00:152 (4) - there's a very minor overlap with the score-metre. If you want to keep things neat, might want to avoid that
    Note: 01:31:089 (2) - same.

    I have mixed feelings about the parts before kiais. They seem to work, but you can stress the drum line or vocals in a more accurate way.

Apart from that it is a pretty okayish difficulty, nice;y done!

  2. 00:11:401 (6,7) - 00:12:574 (3,4) - 00:13:277 (1,2) - there is no visible way to distinguish these gaps. Consider spacing 1/4s closer for better readability?
  3. 00:56:402 (1,2,1) - actually 00:56:871 (1) - should be spaced further as it's the strongest beat and it is a finishing part of the pattern. Try placing it right in the centre of the playfield?
    Note: 01:38:121 (1) - 02:48:902 (1,2,1) - same // 02:10:933 (1,2,3) - similar concept here
  4. 02:18:667 (2,3,4,1) - (1) does not bbelong to the same pattern as 2-3-4. Therefore, putting it in the same square with no visual/spacing separation feels pretty forced. How about re-arranging things a little? example

I feel like the claps in the last kiai section were sort of overused and gave it an unnecessarily loud feel. Apart from that and a few spacings I don't quite understand things are quite okay. The set on its own is fairly decent, it's mostly minor stuff here and there and rhythm/spacings on Hard.

  1. 00:09:996 (1,2) - and similar beats - you said those were following the drums, yet a slidertail gives less emphasis to a beat, therefore, mapping 00:11:402 - with a slidertail is pretty much equal to leaving it unclickable.
    Oh, and there is also a guideline.

I don't really see what exactly makes you consider this or that thing weird, but I guess that's just the subjective difference. It is also quite a shame that you ignored the comment on Hard I've posted.

I guess you precieve the strong/weak sounds in a different way. Anyways, I hope this would explain my concerns better!
