"Banning the sale of video games or cartoons involving sexual violence against women"

It really all depends on their definition of sexual violence against women, even though it's just an examination. Besides, it's just the UN trying to show us they're actually doing something (hahaha).
winber1
well technically it says sexual violence against women. so all ya gotta do is make everything consensual by force

does it simply include a girl being raped or girl wearing bikinis, poledancing in stripclub, big boobs while doing nothing or what?
ColdTooth
like literally 99.9% of videogames do not have violence against women or children at all

Actually, why the fuck did I even began to post that, I should not be contributing to the thread at all. Goodbye.

Who knows.
The Gambler
So the spread of MGTOWs is gonna rise up even more?

Wouldn't that also mean more osu! players instead (or any game in general)?

I read the pdf, thanks Liiraye! Very interesting.

"40. Distribution, public display of, and possession for distribution purposes of obscene
drawings are punishable under Article 175 of the Penal Code. The possession, production,
provision, and public display of child pornography is also punishable under the Act on
Regulation and Punishment of Acts Relating to Child Prostitution and Child Pornography,
and the Protection of Children (Paragraph 189 of the Reports). Such crimes are dealt with
by administering strict and appropriate dispositions and sentences. This Act was revised in
June 2014 to criminalize acts of producing child pornography through secret filming, as
well as acts of possession and storage of child pornography for the purpose of satisfying
sexual curiosity. "

So Japan has been more strict on child pornography? Okay, nobody can be mad at that.

"38. The police strengthened investigations on crimes by groups of child pornography
consumer and crimes carried out with file-sharing software. In 2014, the police cleared
1,828 cases of child pornography (746 children were victimized). These numbers represent
a record high."

That's horrible, Japan. Get your shit together.

"39. In 2014, 850 arrests for obscenity offences committed using computer networks, and
185 arrests for crimes related to the sale of obscene DVDs, were made. Press releases
regarding those arrests have been held accordingly."

They didn't specify what obscene meant but I assume it's not child pornography since they didn't clarify. This is where things get kind of fucked up because I don't believe in arresting someone for selling or producing porn unless it's DIRECTLY harming a group of people. Anyone should be free to make the nastiest porn if they feel like it.

So... Technically, porn is getting illegal, right?

Yes, because there is no vanilla porn left whatsoever. All porn is involved.

This is still ridiculous. This isn't an issue the UN should be focusing on when there is war and poverty going on everywhere else.
And they're focusing strictly on women when rape is an issue for BOTH genders.
The whole thing is just asinine.
Cyclohexane

They're not even focusing on rape.

They're focusing on 'violence against women' in fiction as if the people getting raped are real people. The common excuse you'll hear from feminists is that this stuff 'perpetuates misogynist attitudes in real life', despite there not being a single study to back up that claim. Nothing that is fictional should be banned, not only is it retarded it is restricting freedom of expression. Soon they'll extend the bans to political media, and doing stuff like drawing Mohammed will be illegal.
The Gambler
Funny thing is, the male gender also has it's own set of stereotypical visualizations in the media industry (like unrealistic body builds and ultra-aggressive behaviour) and we don't see feminists complaining about that... Welcome Gears of War, Mass Effect, Predator and Miami Vice, and all similar crap in general...

Fuck, even Cortana in Halo was remodelled for being too sexy. and not realistic depictions of women... Yet the male characters keep their body build.

What happened to being an immersive, fantasy world? It's too inaccurate to be realistic, but accurate enough to influence game immersion.
