Ifyou had trouble with lag, and looking for the most convienent methods for you, This guide is for YOU.

Method zero (If you had to find a guide like this to find that button, i'd laugh)
Click the Low end PC option, in the options screen ingame.

Method one
play it full-screen where visual styles don't effect performance

Method two

Start>control panel> right click "computer" click on properties >Advanced system settings>(under performance)settings>

click the option that says, adjust for best perfomance> Your computer will play osu! better, with less lag. Thanks.

...or you can set the low-end pc option, set frame limit to 120fps or vsync, change to directx/opengl [whichever you lag less in], and get a computer that isn't from the stone age [aka 2003]

Brotip: Disable Norton.

Or rather, nuke Norton and/or McAfee and get that avast!

If you actually know what you're doing online (i.e. common sense) then the free edition is perfectly sufficient for most needs.

Only trouble is some banks only cover for specific antivirus programs if your data is hijacked... i.e. if you were using avast! instead of Norton you were effectively "unprotected" and it's your own damned fault if you lose private details through online banking. :|

To see what you've accomplished, Bring up task manager, Performance>Memory, see that now, and then see it after reading my guide.

Start>control panel>system maintenance>Find which version of windows your using>

View computer details
>Advanced system settings>(under performance)settings>

click the option that says, adjust for best perfomance> Your computer will play osu! better, with less lag. Thanks.

This.

If you aren't playing fullscreen, give osu! a high priority in the taskmanager:

Use high or something.

Use high or something.
This negatively impacts performance in many cases.
