Losing Rank For Beating Highscores.

Quick question everyone: So I got the best HDDT play I've ever had and gained a solid 2000 rank from 74k to 72k. Shortly after I played the same map (trying to get into the top 50 in the high scores) with HD HR FL. I ended up barely beating current score by 257 points and to my surprise, my rank plummeted back down to 74k. I know I shouldn't care that much about rank and pp, but am I basically never able to get that pp back for my original play (because I got an SS) unless I add on more mods?

Has anyone else ever lost this much rank from a single play?

You dropped your accuracy so much, it's to be expected that you earn less pp from it and thus lose ranks

sudden death is nothing. it doesnt make your score higher. sudden death just makes you fail after one miss.
hidden, hard rock, flashlight, nightcore/doubletime makes your score higher. o3o
even though you got an SS, your S (w/ higher score) is the top not bottom.

nothing, nothing.
who knew that S is top and SS is bottom...
