Hey

[Dekaane's Kantan]

Nothing to say, the map is solid.

[Ono's Futsuu]

00:09:869 (12) - Since you put a kat here at this place, I suggest this 00:04:702 (5) - should be moved at 00:04:535 - , at this current place it doesn't really fit with any sound.
01:14:869 - No d here although there is one at 01:09:535 (2) - ?

[Ono's Muzukashii]

00:26:869 - What about a don here ?
01:09:202 (1,1) - I'd suggest to delete these two notes, a short break after a quintuplet in a muzukashii should be considered. It doesn't break the flow either.

[Ono's Oni]

00:22:369 (1) - I know it's not in your mapping style, but I'd have emphasized this sound with a small speed up of 1.2 there. Same for 00:57:035 (1) - of course.
01:12:869 (1,2) - Considering the difficulty and the sound here, I'd have removed the finisher from 01:13:035 (2) - and made this In my opinion it grants more flow the this part, which don't really need a break. Adding to the fact that you put a a dkddk here 00:38:202 (1,1,1,2,1) - .

I think these are the main points you should consider, everything else isn't relevant enough. Good luck !

01:14:869 - No d here although there is one at 01:09:535 (2) - ? I removed previous note instead.

[Ono's Muzukashii]

00:26:869 - What about a don here ? Possible, but kept it as it is since outside of the kiais at these spots I wanted to have one long 1/2 pattern and rest just additional smaller alternation too make it not too dense.
01:09:202 (1,1) - I'd suggest to delete these two notes, a short break after a quintuplet in a muzukashii should be considered. It doesn't break the flow either. Can be done, but the reason to use these is to have a not too big spread between Oni, Muzu and Futsuu. I mean, difference would be for my taste at least too big without this constellation of pattern in the kiai. It's not that hard at all considering it is rather montonous with clear kat placement.

[Ono's Oni]

00:22:369 (1) - I know it's not in your mapping style, but I'd have emphasized this sound with a small speed up of 1.2 there. Same for 00:57:035 (1) - of course. Could do this but personally I feel like x1.2 gives not much of an impact at all due to small differences.
01:12:869 (1,2) - Considering the difficulty and the sound here, I'd have removed the finisher from 01:13:035 (2) - and made this In my opinion it grants more flow the this part, which don't really need a break. Adding to the fact that you put a a dkddk here 00:38:202 (1,1,1,2,1) - . changed

Yeah, I thought about this a lot of times. Even with speed ups. But somehow I don't see this very fitting at all since it looks like a disturbance in the beatmap which contains no speed ups at all. As for finisher, I just feel like it draws too much attention, making upcoming part too insignificant. So I would rather prefer to keep it like that.

it only took one Ono minute : O
OnosakiHito
3 Ono hours* I think the real measurement is still unclear and not unified yet.

Thank you Nwolf!

some thoughts on the taiko diffs before it gets qualified (since i happened to just stumble upon this and notice some things)

[General]
I noticed the lack of volume changes implemented, where in this song they would definitely be neccesary since some sections are significantly quieter than others. I'll just highlight the part where it really comes to light that this is neccesary, but i would strongly suggest implementing them throughout the song where they would fit (might actually leave some suggestion points there too)

00:46:702 - this is the part where it's really neccesary. The sounds you are mapping to are very quiet, yet you still are hitting these beats with 100% volume, which is just overpowering the music... i would suggest dropping the volume down to 60% in this part and raising it up again at 00:54:702 - since the beats become stronger here. I'll just leave some suggestion timestamps in general

00:00:036 - 70%
00:10:702 - 80%
00:22:702 - 90%
00:33:369 - 100%
00:44:202 - 60%
00:54:702 - 80%
00:57:369 - 90%
01:08:035 - 100%

[Oni]
00:22:369 - you could give this note a bit of a ninja-esque feel, maybe raising the SV to 1.3x or something
00:32:035 (1,1,1,1,2) - i feel like these could be at a slightly higher SV to emphasize the stronger sounds and the transition into the kiai here more, this would also give the map a more unique feel
00:42:702 (1,2,1,1,1,2) - ^
00:54:702 - i'd raise the SV a bit here again since these hits are noticably stronger than the last ones
00:57:035 - this note could have a bit of a ninja-esque feel, maybe raising the SV to 1.3x or something
01:06:702 (1,2,3,4,5) - i would suggest adding a SV increase here for similar reasons as before, but compared to the other places where you have finishers there's a pretty intense 1/4 layer underneath, so i would suggest maybe mapping some denser patterns instead to emphasize this a bit better, since it's significantly different from the other parts you mapped like this
01:17:369 (1,1,1,2,1,2,3,4,1,1,1,2,1,2,3,4,1) - you could add a SV increase here again, since the intensity rises i'd suggest doing it gradually with each pattern

If you're going to argue that the SV changes may be too hard compared to the muzu, I'd like to point out that the muzukashii is pretty hard in itsself where the oni isn't even that hard as that it would deserve it, so the SV changes wouldn't really hurt the spread imo.

[Muzukashii]
00:24:035 (2,1,2,1) - you're not emphasizing the pitches right here imo, 00:24:035 - goes up from the last note 00:24:369 - these go down from the last note and 00:24:869 - goes up again, yet you mapped it oppositely, not even emphasizing any kind of pitch change between 00:23:702 - and 00:24:035 - since they are mapped the same
00:26:702 (2,1,1) - similar thing here
00:29:369 (2,1,1,1) - similar thing here, again the main problem is the lack of emphasis on 00:29:369 - if you are going for some sort of pattern variation i'd at least suggest using this as k
00:58:702 - basically the same things in this part as i pointed out earlier

[Futsuu]
00:22:702 - when comparing to the Muzukashii, the density and difficulty of the pre-kiai is too hard. the muzu focuses on only 1/2 patterns, yet here the whole part is basically packed full. the pre-kiai part, which only uses 1/2 in the muzu not even having any 2/1 breaks and using some slightly difficult 1/2 combinations for futsuu players
00:36:035 - this pattern is a bit too long when comparing to the rest of the kiai and also comparing spread-wise to the muzu, which utilizes shorter patterns, i'd suggest deleting 00:38:202 (2) - to solve this problem
00:41:369 - a 1/2 pattern of this length isn't really warranted here, since there is no considerable difficulty spike like this present in the Muzukashii and this is a bit too hard for players of this level and compared to the rest of the difficulty, i'd suggest deleting 00:41:869 (4,6) - so that you can still make the one in the 2nd kiai a bit more intense than this one to follow your concept of increasing difficulty
00:55:869 - you could add a note here, leaving out another intense tick like this isn't really a good idea even if it's to emphasize 00:56:035 - more
00:57:369 - same thing i said about the pre-kiai part earlier
01:12:869 (1) - delete this note for the same reason as earlier
01:16:035 - again this pattern is too hard and nothing in the spread warrants a difficulty spike like this, i'd suggest deleting only 01:16:869 (6) - for this one since the 2nd kiai is a bit harder than the first one overall

in general, the futsuu having more than twice as many notes as the kantan isn't really a good idea (the patterns are not only too close to the muzu but also too far away from the kantan imo)

[Kantan]
00:33:369 - i'm not a fan of how the 5plets are used in this kiai, they are used in a pretty repetitive way, when it could be mapped as pretty normal patterns... since you mapped the whole part as 5plets, the part where the drums actually start to get faster at 00:41:369 - loses all emphasis whatsoever except for the finisher at the end, which is more to emphasize the end of the kiai then the escalating drums. I would suggest just mapping a bit longer patterns with 3plets instead of 5plets here and only leaving the last pattern as a 5plet
>> delete 00:33:702 - , add a note at 00:35:369 - , delete 00:36:369 - ... rinse and repeat for the second half
00:46:702 - i feel like this could be a k since the synth pitch goes up and it would make for more pattern variation
00:52:035 - ^
01:08:035 - same for this kiai as for the last one, the use of 5plets here for literally anything destroys the emphasis on the part that should actually use them entirely, you can step it up a little bit density wise to what i suggested for the last kiai, by not having the 4/1 break, but i'd reccomend basically following what i suggested for the last kiai in general

that's all... glad i noticed this before it got qualified

Took me some time again. I am terribly sorry, JBH.

I applied nearly everyting if I remember right and informed Chromoxx about it. Only sugestions I didn't apply were the SV changes in Oni. Might be just me, but I tried to add several times SV changes into the map on the same places you suggest before, but I didn't feel really well about it. In general, the song is quite similar in all parts with some highs and downs in tone and that makes me feel like I would emphasize certain parts too much. Yes, I think that's the reason I didn't take bigger SV changes at all. Thank you for your mod tho, helped me!

there's nothing too long Ono!
you should be able to check it in less than 5 mins :(
(it's actually what you haven't check on IRC)

[Muzukashii]

  1. consider slightly increase density on this part? 00:20:035 - 00:21:369 -
00:20:202 - 00:21:202 - i'd say just adding note here will do. but there might be another "solution"
Other point were already discussed in IRC.

IRC
22:31 Kin: hello there
22:32 OnosakiHito: yo!
22:33 Kin: Are you available for IRC?
22:33 Kin: so JBH don't have to wait another year xd
22:33 OnosakiHito: yes
22:34 Kin: tho, i don't have much concern about it
22:34 Kin: just want to know about your choice
22:34 OnosakiHito: phew
22:34 OnosakiHito: so not much work
22:34 OnosakiHito: Sure
22:34 Kin: I don't like being nitpick/nazi about stuff which are more related to mapping style so
22:35 Kin: 00:01:035 (1) - mapping this one is intentional or you aimed this note ? 00:00:952 -
22:36 Kin: oh, forgot to mention, but oni
22:36 OnosakiHito: That was intentional. I didn't even pay attention to the difference to be honest. I just tried to have a consistent snapping.
22:37 OnosakiHito: Else it would not work with 00:03:702 (6) -
22:37 Kin: yeah
22:38 OnosakiHito: But I think it isn't too wrong either since the sound there is not a single one,
22:38 OnosakiHito: but contains of echos if I'm not wrong.
22:38 OnosakiHito: So it would be rather a kdk
22:38 Kin: both have reasonable reason in my opinion
22:38 Kin: only up to the mapper
22:39 Kin: but must be used consistently :)*
22:39 OnosakiHito: Mhm
22:41 Kin: testing Inner Oni?
22:41 Kin: where iz dis
22:42 OnosakiHito: Was just another version
22:42 OnosakiHito: xD
22:42 Kin: oh xD
22:42 Kin: I though I missed a diff
22:42 OnosakiHito: Just me trying different patterns
22:59 Kin: hm, I'm actually kinda confuse about 2 patterns
23:27 Kin: please close CSGO 'L_'
23:38 Kin: 00:01:369 (2,3,4,5) - 00:06:702 (14,15,16,17) - you have those 2 patterns focusing on the weird keyboard while 00:03:702 (6,7,8,9,10,11,12) - 00:03:702 (6,7,8,9,10,11,12) - are focusing on the "main" piano/keyboard
23:46 OnosakiHito: checking soon
23:49 OnosakiHito: Rise of patterns from my side (still in cs sorry)
23:50 Kin: those pattern actually plays ok/good, but might feel weird when focusing on the melody (especially when it swap from melody to those)
00:01 Kin: On Muzukashii: consider slightly increase density on this part? 00:20:035 - 00:21:369 -
00:01 Kin: the difference in density between Oni & Muzu is quite huge for this short part
00:02 Kin: 00:20:202 - 00:21:202 - i'd say just adding note here will do. but there might be another "solution"
00:15 OnosakiHito: aaaah
00:15 OnosakiHito: they dragged me into this
00:15 Kin: 'L_'
00:19 Kin: well, that's all from me I guess 'L_'
00:20 OnosakiHito: sorry for that, it
00:35 Kin: tell me when you're done fixing/checking stuff
00:41 OnosakiHito: You can add what you said as another mod
00:41 OnosakiHito: and I will check it later
00:41 Kin: please
00:41 Kin: I
00:41 Kin: derped
00:41 Kin: I QF'd the wrong map
00:41 Kin: I QF'd Acceleration instead of Arrival's map

00:42 Kin: can you please DQ
00:43 Kin: oh
00:43 Kin: I mean
00:43 Kin: I messed up
00:43 OnosakiHito: LOL
00:43 OnosakiHito: I will DQ
00:43 Kin: I actually QF'd Arrival's set
00:43 Kin: but only set icon on Acceleration
00:43 Kin: it's alright
00:43 OnosakiHito: ok
00:43 Kin: I must be tired ;w;
00:49 Kin: actually, what I writted in IRC was the only thing I have concern about
00:49 Kin: not so long to check D:
