Why not move dates back instead of pulling it closer to the holidays? That way you would only affect the finalists, everyone else would be playing the same dates as before. But by having the tournament start one week earlier you literally change the schedule for half the players or whatever amount of groupstage matches you put there. Really not an elegant solution to extending the the tournament to 32 teams (which is fine) and a not very thought-out decision at all since this leaves many teams without their full roster or even unable to participate at all.

Please reconsider the new schedule and I highly recommend simply moving everything one week back to reduce the affected teams to only the finalists and also to avoid having matches on holidays. Thank you.

I highly second this and everyones posts on this topic. What a bad decision to change the dates, especially after already registering for different ones. You probably thought "Oh registration finished so quick so let's start the tournament earlier", but that's really not the way to go.

Not everyone sits at home and plays osu on their holidays, you know.

I can't really play on the new dates either (well technically I can but I'd prefer if I don't have to). I signed up for playing in january, not earlier.

Update (12/19/15): Going to move the date of final registrations to Monday, December 21st. Admin team is still dealing with some issues and finalizing things on the registration side, please be patient c: I don't think I made this clear, but the final registrations are specifically for the creation of teams; the team members can be changed until the first day of the tournament.

Sorry for being slightly late... but here are important news:

Groups 2, 3, 5, and 8 will be playing this weekend, which is the weekend of January 2nd.

Groups 1, 4, 6, and 7 will be playing next weekend, which is the weekend of January 9th.

This division of groups was completely determined by the responses on the form.
For those playing this weekend, expect to get a schedule of times for your matches pretty soon.

Next, there will be some major changes in the rules for the next few rounds.

  1. Matches will be held in the Last Man Standing format, meaning that after every map, the person with the lowest score will lose a life or their slot will be closed if there are no lives remaining. TEAM SCORE WILL NOT MATTER except for the tiebreaker.
  2. What happens if there is a tiebreaker? All slots will be reopened, and the team score will be the only thing that matters. The side that has the greater team score wins.
  3. Speaking of tiebreakers, starting from the Round of 8, there will be three tiebreaker picks. When the tiebreaker is to be played, each team will roll again, and both teams will each ban one tiebreaker. The winner of the roll can choose whether to ban first or ban second.
  4. After all (or almost all) of the matches in a weekend are finished, there will be a mappool showcase to show the next mappool. There was actually a showcase for the current mappool (which not many people knew existed); however, starting from now, the showcases will be official. Feel free to tune in and get a head-start on the maps! We also are looking for people to participate in these mappool showcases, just shoot me a PM if you are interested! (You must be under #5,000 rank and must not be currently participating in the tournament.)
