The International 2013 Eastern qualifier have just ended and IceFrog have dropped the biggest surprise for us. WarCraft III DotA version 6.78, one of the most anticipated version of all time. Some of the biggest changes include the change to the way Captain's Mode is done from a two phase system to a three phase system along with various hero balances.

Heroes

New Strength Hero: Kaolin, the Earth Spirit

New Intelligence Hero: Nerif, the Oracle

Arc Warden
- Magnetic Field AoE decreased from 325 to 275
- Tempest Double unit is now visible to the enemy players as the fake

Axe
- Counter Helix cooldown decreased from 0.65/0.6/0.55/0.5 to 0.55/0.5/0.45/0.4

Ancient Apparition
- Ice Vortex cooldown decreased from 6 to 5
- Ice Blast base AoE increased from 225 to 275
- Added Aghanim's Scepter

Old Stone Gaze:

Any unit facing Medusa has its attack and movement speed slowed by 100%. Dispels enemy units and deals 500/1000/1500 damage to illusions and summoned units.

Lasts 5 seconds. Attack and Movement speed is slowly regained over the duration.

CD: 140/100/60
Manacost: 200/100/0

Note: Once a unit is affected, it retains the negative buff until the spell is over, regardless of facing direction.


Stone Gaze:

Any unit facing Medusa will have its attack, movement and turn rate reduced by 50% until the end of the spell. If you accumulate 2 seconds time (in total) facing Medusa, you will turn to stone.

Stoned units are disabled, have 100% magic resistance and take extra damage from physical attacks.

- Bash damage type from magical to physical
- Sprint cooldown decreased from 40 to 28

Sniper
- Shrapnel AoE increased from 360 to 400

Spirit Breaker
- Charge of Darkness will now also Greater Bash its target

* Towers no longer have separate bounty values when creeps or allies get the last it, it now gives the same reliable bounty to all players as if a creep killed it.
* Hero getting last hit on tower gives 100-200 bonus gold. Does not affect team bounty in any way

Previously if you get the last hit:
- You would get no team bounty
- Allies get slightly less gold

Now:
- Allies always get the same amount regardless of who last hits
- A hero last hitting gets roughly the same overall amount as before

* Backdoor protection now also reduces incoming damage by 25%
* Siege units HP increased from 500 to 550
>>>Now always requires 4 hits from tier 1 towers instead of sometimes 3 and sometimes 4

* Repicking a randomed hero now re-adds the hero to the pool
* Swapping a hero that you randomed now costs you 100 gold

What I find most interesting is changes within the character itself besides attribute/armor.
That being e.g. Lina's range increase (which enables a better exchange of blows in a 1v1 ranged vs ranged because of her slooow animation swing) or Meepo's increased base magic resistance :O

Necro is going to be picked as a hard counter to the likes of all the bitch-ass hard carries who save up for buyback. All you can do is hope he scythes a creep or something on accident, or its over.

Reaper's Scythe looks kinda imbalanced to me, but knowing IceFrog he will probably nerf/balance it by next versions. Although it is really a good counter to Spectre's Buyback-Haunt, Weaver's Buyback-Time Lapse and other stuffs like that.

If you have like, 70%+ Win Rate, more chances of high-very high I think.

Why would they screw the teams over by changing the rules of the game when the TI in in a few months?
To change the game and make it so it's about pure skill, not exploiting stale, tiresome and formulaic forms of victory which keeps happening in this current iteration of dota 2 (PL + KotL, Naix + LD, Mag + Gyro/whatever).

It will also make it really interesting when teams pull out pocket strats to counter what will most likely be popular at that time of the game (TI2 had clutch jugger+enigma by na'vi to counter really bullshit wombo combo that was tide ds naga). There will most likely be similar underdog heros who become, well, the hero of the tournament. Of course, there will also be an OP hero that the teams will most likely exploit (i'm thinking Silencer core will become very popular and annoying as shit to play against).

Doom counters fucikng everything as well. No backtrack 'n all that stuff is op. Also after thinking a little bit, aghanim's disabling the duration to go down on Doom isn't really that big of a deal unless you pub and got 30 armor + 4k hp and you want to chase a hero from one side of the map to the other. I mean, if you got 16 sec duration on Doom and still not manage to kill him? That's...not how Doom should be working.

Imo Na'Vi became better after switching their players. Not comparable to TI2 Na'Vi ofcourse but they were sliding in a pretty deep hole before the changes.

wow Huskar is practically immune to any magic damage when his berserk blood charges reach 14,would form such a deadly combo with Dazzul

At least he will not hit for about 100000000000000000 at a rate of 1000000 spears a second, he will only hit for about 150 at a rate of 1000000 spears a second, so you will have a chance at killing him with a stun and right clicks.

PS : Had a teamfight and i was Lion with agha. First thing I do : ulti troll -> blink to neutrals -> drain mana -> blink back in -> ulti troll -> troll dead.
