Here's what I was thinking: So a ribbon is a picture that shows next to your name in the little box of your stats(for example in the osu!Bancho) and on your profile page/forums posts.

RIBBON GROUPS:

-#1.000.000+ = A grey ribbon.
-#1.000.000 - #500.000 = A bronze ribbon.
-#500.000 - #100.000 = A silver ribbon.
-#100.000 - #50.000 = A gold ribbon.
-#50.000 - #1.000 = A diamond ribon.
-#1.000 - #1 = A Champion Ribbon(osu styled super ribbon).

Please reply with your thoughts on this idea.

i think the ranking groups could be something like
1m+
1m-500k
500k-100k
100k-50k
50k-10k
10k-1k
-1k-1

50k to 1k is a really big gap

What about other gamemodes? This is also very subjective and there is no need to group ranks by tiers. It's not like all diamond ribbon players would be on par with each other.

What do we have pp for?
Why would you give away ribbons based on ranking and not based on pp. This isn't a competitive pvp-game mate.
Every halfdecent player knows that pp only reflects a portion of skill and some other portion is untracked.

And in the very end there's 0 sense in it when the actual rank gets displayed right beneath your name, be it in multiplayer or the player-overview.
The only reasoning for such stuff could be to save space but in my opinion the implementation of ranks works out perfectly. No need for ribbons.

I like the general idea of this, though the numbers need to be changed a bit. Others have suggested good changes. I think it would implement a skill tier system of sorts. We could give them names, even.

This isn't league or something like that.

Also, the brackets for each ribbon are way too large. You can't compare a rank 1,000 to a rank 1. Nor a rank 50,000 to a rank 1,001. And why have anything for 1,000,000 or even 500,000+? You can get into the top 500,000 in like a day, even as a new player.

No, not beacuse the idea is bad (in my opinion, its, very good <3), but because it would need just too many.

1M-500K - that one is fine
500k-100k - first problem, someone 200K is way better than a 500K but really not as good as a 100K, generally
100k-50k - ^
50k-1k - wtf? the gap is just monstruous, I'm like 8k now(I think?)and I am WAYYYYYYY better than a 50K, not even comparable, and a 1K is WAYYYYYY better than me, again, almost not comparable...
1k-1 - like ^ but WAY worse...compare WWW to a #1000 T_T



It would work pretty well with score ranking, but big problem with that ranking, is it's pretty much abandonned now.
