"I want to reach as high combo as possible on this map and I only care about accuracy if the lack of it causes me to get out of rhythm and miss. If there's a pattern I don't understand I make a guess and try to get through it without dropping combo instead of trying to get all 300s and possibly miss in the process."

Just look for where your accuracy is dropping off, and play more maps that have similar mechanics to the ones you have low accuracy on.

You're top ~1k after a year, someone who is much better than most. So I wouldn't say their current position is bad, but rather average or above average.

That aside people on the Gameplay and Rankings forums generally dislike it when people ask how fast they are improving because everyone improves at their own pace and tbh no one really cares unless you're improving as fast as Rafis or Rohulk. You should ask yourself if you're improving at the rate you want to and if the answer is no then figure out what you're doing wrong. You should only really ask people here for advice if you have tried everything you could and are still stuck.

My way of thoughts is :

If ur having fun playing the game, ur doing well.
If ur not having fun playing the game, something is wrong.
osu! is a game after all. It's main objective is to have fun, unless ur a tryhard.

I used to actively post on G&R trying to help people. After a while I realised that it was pointless; every thread asking "How do I get better at etc" just devolves into the same thing every single time. Either OP gets told to play more or they don't hear what they want to hear and get pissy; it's usually these threads which are most active because apparently people like to argue about things that they don't understand (I used to be like this).

When you take into account that enough threads exist for you to search your question about the game and find probably hundreds of answers, the entire sub-forum becomes pointless and a waste of space; only existing to bloat that post-count number under your name.

1. Improving acc - make your hitsounds higer volume than music (for example 50% music, 100% hitsounds) - work on your inner methronome (sorry if i misspelled word). Accuracy rises with time and experience, just play more, listen to music and read map, both are important.
2. Play maps what you enjoy, good music what you can feel helps. There might be situation that some good song is mapped only with high star rating mapset but i think you will find something good in your skill level.
3. Know your value, don't look at others, if you feel that you actualy enjoy this game, you are fine. Some people enjoy good music, others enjoy competetive site of this game, find what you like and do this. Proper progression gives more fun for sure since it "unlock" higer star maps for you. It takes time but i think its worth.
4. Most important - Please enjoy game and have fun.
