Wow you are such an elite for being underground and all... Seriously are we a hipster community ? I understand that when something gets more popular (and don't say the word "mainstream") it can be polluted and Bancho will be overused. Of course I know. But this is great for the game popularity, it might be a chance !
Anyway thanks PewDiePie and thanks Peppy.

All with osu going "mainstream" now, I think people are just freaking out because osu's never had such jump in popularity. We're afraid that the new community's going to be infested with young, stereotypical pewdiepie fans.Vertebro wrote:

Granted, if the resulting influx is relatively civilized then I might tolerate it, but PWDP fans aren't regarded with good pedigree by a longshot generally speakingCuboidBeats wrote:

This is my only concern. I could care less about the new players or the server issues. I just hope the new growth doesn't bring legal attention with it.CuboidBeats wrote:

I recommend reading up to the science of Ingroups and Outgroups, the Bandwagon effect, Social pressure and conformity, neural development in adolescenceSINHolyC wrote:
Can anyone bother to explain why are you people blowing this out of proportion? I mean, is it really that bad? Can this single video do so much damage to the game? Yes, damage to the game not the community. My only worry is about the game itself since I only play solo and don't interact at all with the community, except for this time. *social anxiety intensifies*
Well, that was a really deep philosophical vague answer if I ever saw one. It's not that I'm bad with people per se, it's just that I never bothered getting in touch with the osu! community because I only play the game for fun and as a way to kill time. From what I've read on this thread it seems to me people are blowing this out of proportion because they dislike / hate Pewdiepie and his fans, which to me is kinda stupid but to each its own. What I really want to know is if this could have any impact on the game itself as I don't really care about the community getting worse. I mean, a lot you guys think the community is already bad and cancerous, so there's that. So let me rephrase my question, can this influx of new players have any impact on the game itself? Like, connection issues to Bancho, big companies noticing the game because it got bigger which increases the risk of a cease and desist order, stuff like that.Aurani wrote:
Well, you ought to study people a bit more and interact with them in order to understand why they're doing what they're doing. Asking that question will give you a vague answer, but only you can understand the underlying cause of this entire mess. No one can 100% explain you why this whole shit happened, apart from a standardised answer like "they're kids jumping on a bandwagon". There is much more going on than what we see on the outer layer, and sadly, if you truly aren't good with people, you won't be able to uncover and understand it.

Just like Railey said, it's very unlikely that anything will change here considerably. You may see more kiddies running around, but it's nothing new, and Osu is already big enough for companies to notice it, so if that was a threat, it already would've happened.SINHolyC wrote:
