What's the point of having correct time signatures?

Let's use my Don't Say Lazy map as an example. The song is in generic 4/4 ABCAC format, but there's a 2/4 bar for the bass solo going into the chorus near the end of the song. Now, I have a red section for the beginning of that measure, and the beginning of the next measure. What I'm not getting is how this is important, except for making the metronome sound pretty, and making it somewhat easier to hitsound claps (although most songs have a pretty noticable 2nd and 4th beat or "+" beat if the song is like that.")

This isn't a complaint, but just a curious question~.

Flashes on the main menu.

It seems unimportant, but it's easy to fix, and features in the future may use the time signature more.

So that means you don't listen to the music in order to use hitsounds accordingly?

I'll listen to the music for finishes, parts where the background beat occasionally stops (ie. Bet On It), but for the most part, I just use the timeline >w<.

That only works on songs which actually have sharp drum sounds on particular ticks. Which isn't all songs.

I admit that I'm not the best beat map creator in the world but really how the hell am I supposed to do that tapping timing with it? if I tap on every first or every second note played metronom ticks too fast if you compare it to speed of the track but if I tap say on each 5th note it just won't count that :O

p.s the track is heavy rain - painful memories if you can help me somehow with timing

This is not the right thread for your comment because this thread is about timing signatures (how each measure is displayed) not about actually timing a song. About your problem, tapping is usually more for people who know how to keep a rhythm with the music. For those that are not as musically oriented, I advise listening to the song at 25% to get the rhythm. If you need more help timing, I suggest posting here viewtopic.php?f=60&t=13795
