Generally a decent sized TV is cheaper than a monitor of the same size, and the only issue I've had with my TV is that I have to scale my resolution a little bit. It's still 1980x1080, but there's still scaling, as the natural input makes it literally impossible to see my taskbar or anything.
And you have video game consoles and cable right there.
Like unless there's some "I take computers way too seriously" reason as to why a computer monitor is better, I see at least 1 TV as the best option.

Sure, a nice 48" TV would be nice to have for watching movies on, but to use one in place of an actual IPS monitor ? No thanks.
