How come played songs either get a orange background in the menu and some get a red/dark pink one?

Red - single difficulty
Orange - multiple difficulties
Pink - unplayed
Blue - unmapped
White - selected
Orange - multiple difficulties
Pink - unplayed

So if I play a difficulty it will become red and if I play some of them or all it will become orange? O_o
Orange means the song has multiple difficulties. It doesn't matter how many you've played o.O

But many of my songs with multiple difficulties is only pink? Only those I played turn sometimes into orange.
This map has been deleted on the request of its creator. It is no longer available.
I've always thought the way it worked was pretty obvious...
