Foreward: These comments acknowledge and reflect the time amount given to map this song.

Contestant O:

"Really well made. The stream formations are not bland, and they have designs to them, though I would've preferred to see some harsher designs to them for more intense parts.
Patterns are diverse and not repetitive. Usage of Sliver Velocity is very clever and compliment the music well. Again, I would've preferred to see more SV changes towards the end of the song where it becomes more intense.
Flow feels fine but there are a few parts that feel awkward to play." 16/20

Contestant D:

"Map looks and feels nice. There are only a few cluttering areas but the slider shapes and design of patterning/overlapping gives the map a thematic sense of direction that outweight the "cluttered" feel to those areas.
There's a modest usage of playfield, but each corner area is neglected :[ The map feels fine to play and it doesn't have overbearing flaws to it. 14/20

Contestant P:

"I was really impressed by the usage of kick/repeating sliders, especially the beginning. The beginning stream was also designed well. Intestering break times, but could cause issues with the pacing of the map.
The patterns are well made and the flow is fine to play. There are a few times you focus on different parts of the song and it brings character to the map. The ending was my only biggest turn-off as it felt anti-climactic but it was mapped well nonetheless. 15/20

Contestant C:

"The map has nice composure and builds well into further parts of the song.
I also like the hitsounds at the end of the few sliders you use to emphasize the dominant parts of the song, nice addition. Some flow felt a little awkward but the overlapping designs with the sliders looked nice. My only gripe were the amount/length of breaks used that didn't seem properly placed but other than that, the map is good." 14/20

Contestant F:

"The map has a decent structure and flows well throughout the entire song. Slider shapes are unique (especially that beginning and ending) and aside from a few parts in the beginning, nothing is repetitive.
There's a good mix of sliders to circles and there are no obvious flaws that make the map feel bad." 14/20

Contestant M:

"I was most impressed at how the beginning section was mapped that I wanted more! Questionably sudden and long breaks ruined the pacing of the map to me. Some stream shapes could have looked better. Large sliders were creatively added as well as some slightly spaced out overlaps, those were neat touches.
I would have liked to see more of the song mapped as well as more of the playfield used than just the center, but there was nothing that glaringly stood out that looked "bad". 14/20

Judge D:

G:
-- No SV normalization which makes it really really "wavy" and uncomfortable | Heavy impact on score due to this {
- Sudden drop in Scroll speed at the start making graces and the first notes hard to play
- 01:17:052 - The sudden slowdown here is really unexpected
- 01:19:779 - Would *heavily* prefer if you didn't have a slowjam here
}

- 01:56:042 (116042|3,116096|5,116149|3) - Personally didn't like this polyrhythm due to thumb bias, transitioning from a jack to a trill is kinda "eh"
- 01:58:492 (118492|1,118492|6,118492|3,118492|4,118550|2,118609|4,118609|6,118609|0,118668|1,118727|2,118727|6,118727|4) - Personally think that this should be different from : 01:57:843 (117843|3,117843|6,117843|4,117843|0,117843|1,117949|4,117949|6,118054|4,118054|6,118054|1,118159|2,118159|6,118159|5,118159|0,118159|3,118270|2,118270|0,118381|5,118381|2,118381|0) - due to the change in rhythm for the snares
- 00:55:367 (55367|3,55367|4,55467|6,55467|4,55467|1,55467|3) - Don't really see a need for this hammer but it's kinda minor
- 00:44:417 - Jacks/anchors here kinda feels too rough
- 00:15:327 - Felt empty, could have spiced up with SVs or notes

= 00:10:097 - No idea why is 1 LN potruding out
= *omit* 00:10:097 - Kinda expected notes to be mapped instead of LNs here, since the LN is for 1 bar only
= 01:05:877 - Maybe cut down on the space bar usage here
= 01:25:316 - Missed a note?
= 00:24:955 - Probably could have added

+ Hitsound Volume is low ( so as to not break my eardrums )
Played it on NSV :
+ It played rather well in general ( 90% ), the patterns were rather smooth for the hands
+ Found pitch relevancy to be decent here, especially the graces
+ Personally like how you're brave enough to do a alternating hand trill 01:36:169 -
+ Graces were nice to play ( on NSV )
+ 00:45:249 - 1/4 unique rhythm was nicely emphasized, though the first section of that is kinda "blurred" by the streams nearby ( causing right thumb users to not catch the rhythm )
+ 01:01:373 (61373|6,61434|4,61495|6,61555|4,61616|6,61676|4,61737|6,61798|4) - this trill was satisfying
+ 01:15:575 - Appropriate pattern for jacks, + Pitch relevancy here is nice too
+ Appropriate OD HP

15/20

L:
- 00:18:062 - The notes being on a constant snap doesn't really fit the music at all since the synths speed up
- 01:57:528 - Honestly think that the end is overkill, compared to the rest of the map
- 00:36:632 (36632|5,36632|3) - The LN here is too early

+ Hitsound Volume is low
+ SV Normalization
+ 00:44:886 - The 1/4s here were emphasized nicely
+ 01:01:373 (61373|6,61434|4,61495|6,61555|4,61616|6,61676|4,61737|6,61798|4) - Fun Trill
+ 01:07:642 - Rather nice pattern at this high density
+ The first 3 quarters of the map is very well balanced, you might have overdone it at the end though
+ Appropriate OD HP

= 00:20:385 - May have missed a note here
= 00:39:020 - Kinda empty, might want to add some stuff here
= 01:34:934 (94934|2,94993|1,95052|0,95111|2,95287|1,95287|2,95375|0,95463|2,95552|1,95640|0,95728|2,95816|1,95816|0) - Personally don't like stairs that go outwards this much

16/20

Patterns for Submission L is better than G
However, in technical issues, G took in more consideration than L, which heavily impacts the score and playability

Song impressions:
Holy crap. This is a BPM-changing score. There's a lot to play with and there's some things that are very obviously going to be mapped a certain way.

First chart impressions:
Both of these are really good. To be honest, it'd be hard to call one chart better than the other at first sight.
I'm going to start with a base score of 20 and start discounting.

Judge E:

L:
Normalized speed changes. That's really closing who made this one.
00:25:830 - Odd decision to not add the eventual kicks given that just about the previous section there were chords to close this one in.
Also odd that a less prominent layer is taken as a hold. -1
00:26:955 - Only for them to be readded here. I see. -1
00:44:886 - Right hand bias. Neat.
01:08:348 - The holds on this section should probably not be continuous. (up to 01:09:802 - ) The breath the melody takes is really noticeable. -2
01:31:228 - Given the attention this snip gave to the piano, not charting it here is an odd choice again. -1
01:44:217 - The breath space created by the lack of LNs here is pretty great.
01:53:887 - Woah. You really took your time with this section. I love it.

So 20 - 5 = 15.

G:
The intro. Pretty crazy that the intro clock tickings were picked up to spice things up.
00:37:038 - The layering choices in here are very consistent. Nice.
00:43:573 - This pitch relevancy is delicious.
00:49:158 - WOW. The stream and the piano are separated into hands. Fancy.
01:01:373 - No that right hand trill is evil. -1.
01:15:579 - Focus on the ascending melody, using 3 or 4. Hard to see why either it's done or not with these headphones when such a strong layer (snares) are going on. -2.
01:25:909 - Holy crap. I'm in love with these streams.
01:36:169 - Interesting to pick this pattern to spice up this section. Noticed the first on each doesn't give any particular extra notes other than the arrangement.
01:54:727 - No percussion charted at this instant when the next note right up does. -1
20 - 4 = 16

Yeouch.

Finish times in order. 18:00 -> 21:00

- Threshold: 2 hours

- SR Decay: Starts after 1 hour
- Minimum SR: -60 (Getting an SR this low is near impossible, since it's on the border of being disqualified)
- Maximum SR: +60

Official Rules
The rules of this speedmapping contest are as follows:

Setup:

- There will be a minimum of 4 participants per match, with no maximum.
- The song used will roughly be between 1:30 and 2:30 minutes long.
- Each participant maps the same song.
- The host sends .osz files to all participants, 10 minutes before the match starts.
- This allows participants to listen to the song and plan ahead.
- All participants start at the same time.
Note: Even if you have the .osz, don't start mapping until the starting time. It is expected of you to be a respectable contestant.

Mapset:

- All participants map a single diff.
- All participants are to map the entire song in one shot.
- Before the contest starts, each participant is assigned a letter by the host. They're supposed to remember this letter, since it'll be requested of them when they submit their map.

Quality Rating (QR):

- There will be 3 judges per match.
- All maps will be judged based on their quality alone.
- All maps will be judged anonymously. Judges won't know who the other judges are, or whose map they're judging.
- Judges will give a map a grade going from 1-20. Decimals are not allowed.
- After the grading is finished, all scores from each judge are added up towards a total value. The maximum judge score is 60. This is the Quality Rating.
Note: If you're a judge, and you learn that someone else is a judge too - please refrain from discussing the maps with them until after all maps have been judged.

Finish Limit & Threshold:

- Every match will have a Finish Limit and a Threshold applied to it, based on the duration of the song being mapped.
- Threshold: Song time (seconds) == Threshold (minutes)
- Finish Limit: Threshold (minutes) * 1.5
- The Threshold is the point at which your Speed Rating reaches 0.
- The Finish Limit is the time at which the contest is over. Participants who have not submitted their map by this time are disqualified.

Speed Rating (SR):

- The match always starts you off with maximum Speed Rating.
- This starts decaying (-1 point per minute) once half of the Threshold's time has passed, and continues doing so until the Finish Limit.
- SR can go below 0.
- The min SR is the amount of minutes between the Threshold and the Finish Limit, as a negative number value.
- The max SR is always the positive opposite of the min SR.
- If your Quality Rating is 30 or lower, your SR will be halved, if positive. If it is 0 or lower, nothing changes.

Practical Example for a song of 2:00 minutes:

- Threshold: 2 hours
- Finish Limit: 3 hours
- SR Decay: Starts after 1 hour
- Minimum SR: -60 (Getting an SR this low is near impossible, since it's on the border of being disqualified)
- Maximum SR: +60

If you have any issues with these rules, please message me (Tess) about them and I'll either explain or change them.

What we can Improve on in the Future
  1. Better Judging Criteria (If you can even consider what we had judging criteria.)
  2. Assure that those entering understand the rules and circumstances.
  3. Require a larger sign-up pool as many leave due to not liking the song. (Which really defeats the purpose of the event, if you're going to leave but ok.)
  4. Provide a disclaimer if the song uses different snap divisors so people don't think it's timed wrong.

Sorry I had to leave before I could finish, 40 mins wasn't enough to do it all.
Well anyway it's nice to see what everyone else had made so that's a plus.

Gratz everyone!
