Right now I alternate between keys, but should I play so I single tab and only alternate when there's a stream? I see a lot of people doing that and I was wondering if it mattered at all.

If u can do both just as easy then alternating should be more comfortable , especially at a bmp thats at the singletap limit.
Alternating is by far superior but it takes a long time to master it. Thats why everyone singletapps.

Whatever you want. Just keep in mind that learning how to alternate takes a lot of work, I do think it's worth it though even if you plan on switching styles later on.
You're still at the beginning you'll notice what is harder when alting
At your level you could tap with your nose and be as efficient.
Some people write with their left, some with their right. Someone people alternate, some single-tap. It's as natural as that.
