What's the meaning of "preview point"?

I'm told to set a preview point for my pending map.
But I'm not very sure about what it means and how to set it.
Does every map need a preview point?Is it important?

A preview point sets which part of the song plays when you first select a map, or when you click on the thumbnail in the beatmap listings.
Usually, you set it in the chorus or the start of the song.

To set a preview point:
Timing->Set Current Position as Preview Point

所谓"preview point"就是开始试听的一个点 当你选择这张图的时候 歌会在设置的preview point开始播放 设置好preview之后,在Scores/Beatmap Listing页面上或者osu!direct试听时也会从preview point开始播放

设置方法楼上已经说明过了>_>
Timing->Set Current Position as Preview Point

设置一个preview point很重要 所以请务必设置一个 <_<
