I know it's possible (the method that first comes to mind would involve a miniaturized motion tracking system), I'm just wondering if there are any eager hardware developers that have produced a commercial product around these lines.

Because, ~$50 is a fair price to play Osu! without having to buy a whole new monitor.

Its not exactly the same, but you can pick up a wiimote and bluetooth receiver (and a couple of infrared LEDs >.>) for that kind of price and get a similar sensation. I have tried this and it works pretty well, except you have to be ~1m away from your screen. I guess not everybody has a 40" lcd to do this with.

If this helps, at my Elementary I saw touch screens for the PC that had the possiblity of "snapping on" to the PC so then you can poke at it and everything works. I'm not sure if it's a snap-on or a USB thing (Maybe even something that connects to the input or something on the back of a hard drive), but it wasn't a full monitor, it was a Third-party external thing, I believe.

Hope it helps. ;)

By the way, just wondering about that Bluetooth and Wii-Mote method, does it work on Laptops? And is it awesome? XD

It works fine.. but I must say that its very hard to play 1m away from my 13.1" lappy :(.

I should get a bluetooth receiver for my PC... But still, even with my big monitor, I can't be 1m away from it, there is a wall there. XD

I even don't have too much space to play wii sports alone, imagine that with 4 people (lots of injuries). =P

Last I heard, I thought the infrared tracking wasn't implemented when going wiimote-to-pc.

If they did fix it, I will most certainly give it a try. I have a big ol' TV to run osu! on, too.

It works like a dream now, using GlovePIE

I can't seem to find it now, but i seem to remember someone coming up with a method using a webcam to map where you put your hand/finger on the screen as an input device?? Does anyone remember that? Not sure it'd work well enough for osu anyway though!

you know, you don't really have to be 1 meter away :x
just put the sensor bar high on a wall to the back of the monitor and tadah!
masking tape works for hanging it but it'll fall in 2+ days :x

i just nailed it to the wall and it works great for my wii :) you don't even notice the fact you have to tilt the wiimote upwards
