Hey,

Improving regularly I found myself stuck in this question : is it still possible to find slow maps still "hard" ? (like 4~6+ stars)

The search engine doesn't provide the BPM option. When I mean slow I mean <140~160 bpm, but 80~130 is better.

Looking at how the mapping style is going it looks like fast maps with high AR are more fashionable but I really feel speed and such are not the only way to increase the difficulty of a map.

About "why", the reasons are multiple, but it's mostly about enjoyment. I just personally find really more fun slow maps even if it's mean they have very tricky patterns, overlapping notes and strange things other than speed to keep them hard. I'm just used to play piano songs which rarely exceed 160 bpm.

I made this topic because I can't find anymore slow maps matching my level, and I'm at only 44k so I'm afraid finding maps like this is going to be even more impossible by the futur.

Thanks I'll look in that, did you use a special search for this ? The classic search engine doesn't provide BPM option.

what does low bpm mean if it's mapped in 1/4? :?

Indeed I just tried the beatmaps linked most of them were still fast maps, I guess it's not that easy to find.

those were fast maps...

If you still want slow maps that are high star rating they'd have to be very jumpy.

But instead of asking for map you should just go and download all the beatmap packs, then search star>4.2 bpm<170 or whatever. There are more maps but they tend to be low AR.

HT 6-7 star maps
search for instrumental/downtempo music
some might not be mapped in full 1/4

These are hard to find because you'd generally need to overmap songs to get to that star range. On another note, I'm actually mapping a 120bpm song with a 5-6 star diff, but that's probably gonna take a while

I'd recommend maybe playing HT on some hard maps? That should do the trick

Try out these ones if you find something closer to what you're looking for I might have others matching.
Most low bpm maps with high star rating will either be very jumpy, very hard to read (like the last map) or have a bigger spacing than most maps.

And if you want to just cry on reading there's this one as well https://osu.ppy.sh/b/381798

As for searching maps, just download pretty much everything you like (music-wise), you'll find mappers you enjoy, search for their maps, they often have guest diffs, find more mappers, and more maps :D

Thanks you all for the help and B1rd & Fahe for the maps suggestions.

I thought about HT on very hard maps but it felt a bit cheap (since the map design wasn't done for that kind of use & the song sounds torn apart), but that's still an option indeed.

And yeah, basically very hard reading/jumps and such to make up for the slow pace are what I'm looking for, maybe I'll just 'bruteforce' and download ton of beatmaps to do in-game search as suggested.

Maybe if you want to play slow songs, you could specialise in low AR hard to read maps, like these https://osu.ppy.sh/b/41313 https://osu.ppy.sh/b/152480 https://osu.ppy.sh/b/25580 http://osu.ppy.sh/b/35031

Ah yeah thanks, I played in 2009 before recently replaying so I'm used to low AR.
