Posted this in the main Dan thread too, but it belongs here specifically:
The second song of Dan 5 is significantly harder than the rest of the Dan 5 songs, and I believe it doesn't belong in Dan 5. It is harder than most of the Dan 6 stuff too IMO. Need more opinions on that. (I actually believe that it is harder than all of the Dan 6 songs).
The last song in Dan 7 is completely slow jam, and it is very hard to play for that reason. Dan 7 needs to be fixed before anyone tries it.
Other than those changes, I think the 4K Dans are really good, and should stay as they are.

I recommend to put 2nd song from 5th dan instead of 3rd song in 6th. (and find something new and balanced for 2nd song in 5th dan).
Also, osu!mania is not Stepmania and I HIGHLY RECOMMEND to remove those stupid 1/8 1/16 or even 1/24 LNs which are pretty impossible to acc (just change them into normal note). 4K dan courses depends on accuracy so please dont troll ppl with those accuracy breaking stupid short LNs.
And 7th Dan needs to be fixed, scroll speed on 3rd and last song is slower (feels like a slowjam).

I found True Millennium Queen to be really really easy, but maybe it's because I'm good at jacks? The 120 BPM handgluts weren't that bad for me personally, but I can see what you mean with the 160 BPM jacks. I'll replace it with something, but I'll have to look.Shxfted wrote:

Also fixed 7th dan SV changes. I'll update it in the future.

Just pointing a small error on the dropbox file. The 1st to 3rd Dan file only has the first 2 Dans, and not the 3rd Dan. Everything else is good. Good work up until now. Keep it up

There will be an update in 4th dan, Portal wasn't too happy with his selection of maps and he wanted to change it. For now, don't play the 4th dan. I'll remove it from the DL link for now.

How exactly are these accessible? I tried out the first two 1st dan maps and I couldn't hope to pass either of them in a million years, let alone get 96%. I don't understand.Shoegazer wrote:

Yeah "very accessible" is probably a bit of a stretch in hindsight, at least for clearing. Admittedly have played too much and too long to really determine what's "very accessible for new players" and what's not at this point. ...I do think you're unnecessarily exaggerating when you say that you probably wouldn't be able to get those in a long time though, just play more and improvement will come before you know it.
@Lenfried: I don't think I'll implement easier dans for 4K admittedly, I'm personally far too inexperienced at lower levels and I don't know many people who would be willing to help out with the super low-end stuff to begin with. It'd be a neat idea though, but it'd probably be 5 dans at best regardless.
In other news, 3rd dan should be uploaded soon. I apologise for the delay, Portal has been pretty busy.
I'd love have beginner Dans so my friends would be able to compete. But well I understand you want Dans to be reserved for experienced players.

sorry for my inexperience with custom mapsets and things, but osu won't open the .osu files for the courses and refuses to accept the rar either. or the folder. What do?

Extract the rar file.
Compress any folder in the rar you want as zip
Change the zip extension to osz
Open the osz
Done!

Copy paste a folder in the songs folder in oss program files

Ultra late update, but better late than never I guess.
3rd dan has been added.
4th dan has been changed, Bangin' Burst has been replaced with Escapes, and the order overall has been changed. All 4th dan scores before this will be invalidated, apologise for the inconvenience.
The 7th dan has some sync problems, mainly because the SM to osu converter I have has the tendency to make some of the maps drift more and more offsync for some reason. They'll be resolved soon, but for now - this will be the last update regarding the content of the dans themselves. Other updates will be sync changes and the files being .oszs (I didn't really think that this was a problem, mainly because I've been used to manually putting in the songs in the songs folder - but didn't know that not many people knew how to add maps manually here.)
