Lot of people have already recommended Clannad (which is actually the best anime I've seen so far), Madoka and such, so let me give you some other ones.

I know we have a rule against hating on anime's people like but there must be some threshold where it is acceptable to laugh at a joke. Maken-Ki is the important one here although the others.....

You seriously liked Maken-Ki? because I seriously don't see any good points to it? Most bad shows I'm willing to acknowledge one or two of it's good points but I don't have any for this. Please tell me you've only seen like a maximum of a dozen anime.

Lol I only watched like 3 epsodes.... but I only listed it becuase the other anime have long japanese names I cant remember and cant be bothered to look up ;P

Natsume Yuujinchou is my number one,
Durarara!! is a close second, followed by Umineko no naku koro ni.
I also really liked Ano Hana and Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magica.

Kiss x Sis for example will place you into a trance which will give you many un-wanted boners and wish you had a sister in which you could perform very... family themed activities with.
Freezing, I have actually never watched but that's exactly why it's so good. The Aura the anime oozes out just screams brilliancy.
Monster Rancher... Search for the English dubbed opening in Youtube. Everything will reveal itself to you once you set sight upon its magnificence.
The rest are self-explanatory.
