Well, Elessey, keep in mind that the tournament isn't for 6 months. average PP counts can completely change by then. I would highly suggest that you sort out the PP problem sometime in June.Elessey wrote:

We tried to find a solution and we decided to give up the idea of forcing players to play other modes. We won't be able to put players in their right category that way.
So we now allow specialists to enter the tournament, and it is recommended to find other specialists from other modes to build your team.
However, teams will get too big that way, so instead of doing 2 vs 2 matches, players will play 1 vs 1 matches.
The minimum of players allowed will be 2 and the maximum will be 5.
For the category, read the part about rank categories :
To know which category he will play in, the player will placed according to the pp count he has in the mode he intends to play.
He won't be allowed to play another mode unless the two (three or four) pp counts fall into the same category.
Example 1 : Player has 1500 pp in Osu standard and 800 pp in Taiko.
He will be allowed to play Osu standard in the 1000-2000 category, but he won't be allowed to play Taiko in this category.
He will be allowed to play Taiko in the 500-1000 category, but he won't be allowed to play Osu standard in this category.
Example 2 : Player has 1500 pp in Osu standard and 1300 pp in Catch The Beat.
He will be allowed to play osu standard and Catch The Beat in the 1000-2000 category.
And all the members of a team must be in the same category. I know your pp counts will change but I'll make updates about players pp counts from time to time so that you don't have to disband just before the start of the tournament.
And you can still have more than 5 members before the tournament.

A tie = a big match between team 1 and team 2
A rubber = a small match between players 1 and players 2
1st rubber : double (2 vs 2)
2nd rubber : double
3rd rubber : double
4th rubber : double
Tiebreaker rubber : double
The modes order will be randomly chosen and given before every round along with the mappools.
Winning conditions :
To to go the next round, a team must win the tie.
To win the tie, a team will need to win 3 rubbers.
To win a rubber, a team need to win 3 points.
If both teams reach 2 points, there will be a tiebreaker for a 3rd point. The team that wins this 3rd point will win the rubber.
If both teams reach 2 rubbers, there will be a tiebreaker for a 3rd rubber. The team that wins this 3rd rubber will win the tie and go to the next round.
Other :
Only the scores of the players who are alive at the end of the map will count.
Players who fail won't have their scores counted unless they revive before the end of the map.
A disconnection will be regarded as a fail. A disconnected player's score won't be counted.
If all players in both teams are dead at the end of the map, their respective scores will be counted.
All scores will be taken from the match history page (/mp). If the match history page shows a player has failed, his score won't be counted.Team rulesThe number of players allowed will be 4 players at least and 10 players at most.
It is recommended to have substitutes players for each mode.
Before each rubber, the captain will give us the name the 2 players who will play the rubber with the name of 2 substitutes. The other players won't be allowed to play.
Substitutions will be unlimited between those 4 players.
If a team doesn't have 2 players to play a rubber, they will lose the rubber 3-0 by forfeit.
If a team can't play a tie, they will lose the tie 3-0 by forfeit.
If both teams don't have 2 players to play a rubber, the winner will be chosen via !roll.
If both teams can't play a tie, the winner will be chosen via !roll.
After a disconnection, the disconnected player won't be given any extra time. He'll have to come back or to be replaced before the next map.
If the player isn't replaced, the team will lose the rubber by abandon.
Exception to the rule until July :
Any more members will be added as part of your reserve team. They will be allowed to play in March and in May but they won't be part of your team in July. I'm allowing you that to help you find your perfect team before the tournament starts.Propriety rulesThese rules will apply in the multiplayer chat, in the tournament thread and in the tournament Slack.
It will be expected from players to act nice and politely.
Any rude language towards another player who complains about it will result in a warning.
Any spam will result in a warning.

Publishing or linking to mature content will result in a warning.
After 3 warnings, any misbehavior will result in a ban from the tournament and from the Slack.

4) We are gathering everyone on the Slack, but not many players come online. Don't be shy, we're starting to have fun there, players meet other players, disuss with one another, it's pretty cool. This is also the other place besides this thread, where I make all the important announcements.

1) We improvised a little match between the staff and the players. It was really fun.
Here are the match sheet and the match history.
2) We decided to make another one this weekend. It's gonna be the first friendly matches between the teams. The staff will also play with some players that don't have their own team yet.
These matches will be probably streamed.
The first match will be Index team vs Kosmit team on saturday 17 january at 10:00 pm UTC.
