Star Rating lies.
Blame #taiko for killing 1/4 doubles in the Futsuu. Never forget.

37th mapset, Merry Christmas?

Song featuring in CS7 and Wii4 Taiko no Tatsujin games, any resemblance with authentic charts are mere coincidence, I swear :(

[General]
  1. 00:03:942 - This timing point isn't necessary, it doesn't change anything. Remove it?
  2. 00:40:370 - Kiai time probably should start here.

[Kantan]
  1. 00:02:978 (4) - Move it to 00:02:871 - ? The current rhythm is a bit awkward to play and 1/4 snap should be avoided for Kantan imo.
  2. 00:57:512 (80) - 01:04:370 (88) - Add finishers on those?

[Futsuu]
  1. 1/4 duplets on Futsuu? D: They seem well used and the diffspread looks good though, so I guess there's no reason to complain. The first one might cause issues though, since this one has no break before it comes.
  2. 00:40:370 (82) - 00:47:227 (98) - 00:57:512 (124) - 01:04:370 (135) - 01:12:941 (155) - Add finishers on those?
  3. 00:45:941 (95,96,97) - kkk to make a variation since it doesn't sound exactly like the previous one?
  4. 01:12:941 (155) - Don, as you did on every other diff.

[Muzukashii]
  1. 00:51:512 (189) - k and 00:53:227 (196) - d ? It follows the melody better imo and it makes a good variation to the previous parts.
  2. 00:46:584 (167) - Remove? The combo is a bit too long.
  3. 01:06:941 (242,243,244,245) - I think ddd k or ddd d fits better than d ddd here. ddd k k probably has a better playability than ddd d k.
  4. 01:08:655 (250,251,252,253) - ^
  5. 01:12:941 (272) - Finisher?

[Oni]
  1. 00:02:871 (10,11) - kk? It sounds better imo.
  2. 00:04:584 (15,16,17,18) - and 00:06:298 (25,26,27,28) - should be consistent with 00:11:441 (55,56,57,58) - and 00:13:155 (65,66,67,68) - as you did on Muzukashii.
  3. 00:47:012 (240) - Maybe a d for consistency? Might be fine to let it be a k though.

That's a really solid, good and short mapset so it probably needs almost no mod. inb4 speedrank

  2. 00:40:370 - Kiai time probably should start here. /*I'd want to include the first triple in the song in the kiai :P

[Kantan]
  1. 00:02:978 (4) - Move it to 00:02:871 - ? The current rhythm is a bit awkward to play and 1/4 snap should be avoided for Kantan imo. /*Done.
  2. 00:57:512 (80) - 01:04:370 (88) - Add finishers on those? /*Those are a bit calm beats, so having a big note would kill a bit this calmness.

[Futsuu]
  1. 1/4 duplets on Futsuu? D: They seem well used and the diffspread looks good though, so I guess there's no reason to complain. The first one might cause issues though, since this one has no break before it comes. /*I'd want to keep them, as the map would feel like not following the song in that catchy spots, may change later if there's more people pointing it out.
  2. 00:40:370 (82) - 00:47:227 (98) - 00:57:512 (124) - 01:04:370 (135) - 01:12:941 (155) - Add finishers on those? /*Only added in the final note, as I find the sound of the big note too much for a somehow calm song.
  3. 00:45:941 (95,96,97) - kkk to make a variation since it doesn't sound exactly like the previous one? /*Did kdk instead, as the tone is changing, kkk wouldn feel too nice imo.
  4. 01:12:941 (155) - Don, as you did on every other diff. /*Okay

[Muzukashii]
  1. 00:51:512 (189) - k and 00:53:227 (196) - d ? It follows the melody better imo and it makes a good variation to the previous parts. /*Sounds cool, done, also did something similar in Oni.
  2. 00:46:584 (167) - Remove? The combo is a bit too long. /*Sure.
  3. 01:06:941 (242,243,244,245) - I think ddd k or ddd d fits better than d ddd here. ddd k k probably has a better playability than ddd d k. /*Did d k ddd instead, I don't find the triple being in the start of the pattern too nice, as the stream in the music is more emphasized later.
  4. 01:08:655 (250,251,252,253) - ^ /*^
  5. 01:12:941 (272) - Finisher? /*Done

[Oni]
  1. 00:02:871 (10,11) - kk? It sounds better imo. /*Okay.
  2. 00:04:584 (15,16,17,18) - and 00:06:298 (25,26,27,28) - should be consistent with 00:11:441 (55,56,57,58) - and 00:13:155 (65,66,67,68) - as you did on Muzukashii. /*Oops.
  3. 00:47:012 (240) - Maybe a d for consistency? Might be fine to let it be a k though. /*Though you're right, I'd want to have it as a kat to somehow emphasize this as the music is a bit different in previous beats.

Wow, that's a trick I didn't know about. I'll remember this if I have a barline issue one day. :)

About the finishers suggestions, it's because even though the song is calm, it gets more intense when the kiai time comes.
As an example, it would make, on Kantan, a variation between 00:28:370 (38) - which is quiet and 00:57:512 (80) - which is louder.
You might be right that it might be still not intense enough for a finisher though.

Yeah, I tend to use finishers on really strong notes, or parts that require special emphasis.
About the barlines, you have to enable "Omit first bar line" in the special tab, where kiai enable option is (in case you didn't know).
Kurosanyan
Forgot to check the offset and I just noticed it's most likely off! Try -12ms?

00:40:370 - Start the kiai here, it looks... well, bad c:

[Kantan]

omg so beautiful
love

00:51:084 (67,69) - I would recommend deleting these so you don't have two 7-plets next to each other. Also gives a bit of rest.

[Futsuu]

00:00:942 - Add a note here to close up the Kantan -> Muzu spread here a bit. Futsuu is hardly different from kantan
00:02:978 (6) - Also delete this note since 1/4 is kinda evil for Futsuu.
00:20:548 (48) - ^
00:22:370 - Should have a note here since uhhm this is quite empty if you look at the Muzu
00:27:405 (60) - blah
00:56:548 (122) - ^
01:03:405 (133) - ^
01:09:084 (146) - why no kat

[Muzukashii]

00:21:727 (74,75,76,81) - Delete these notes to balance Futsuu -> Muzu -> Oni a bit
00:24:512 (85) - Also maybe change this to a big kat cause Oni has one too and it doesn't really add much difficulty
00:28:584 (98,100) - Again moar delete
00:30:084 (104,105) - Change to kat (Futsuu uses 00:30:084 (63,64) - kats 00:31:798 (68,69) - dons and that makes up a nice audible difference. Also suggested in Oni)
00:33:512 (120,121) - 00:34:370 (123,124) - ^
00:57:727 (208,209,210,215) - Same as first suggestion (consistency and stuff)
01:04:584 (232,234) - Same as 104/105

[Oni]

00:10:584 (49,50,51) - Delete to have a break somewhere in this part
00:29:655 (143,144,145,146) - Invert colors (see Muzu for reason) - also compare with 00:33:512 (172,173,174) -
01:00:512 (313,314,315,316) - mfw SR doesn't get screwed by this wow (this is not a mod)
01:05:655 (345,346,347,348) - Invert colors

-[ Dumpling ]-
Hi from mod queue, sorry for taking a while ._.

Kantan

00:45:941 (58) - I think the music doesn't deepen enough for this note to use a d, suggest change to k.

Futsuu

00:21:512 (50) - 00:24:941 (52) - feels a bit empty note-wise with the melody in the background. Maybe add a k at 00:22:370 (51) - and d in 00:24:084 (53) - ?
00:40:155 (84) - d?
00:45:512 (96) - I think k matches the trumpet at this point better.
00:54:084 (117,119) - you could add finishers at these points to emphasis on the start of the chorus?
01:00:941 (128,130) - ^

Muzukashi

00:02:442 (8) - d?
00:22:798 (79) - I think k fits the instrument better.
00:45:298 (160,161,162) - I think kkk fits the brass better.

Oni

01:00:512 (313,314,315,316) - I think this isn't a very good idea. Because that instrument bit lasts until 01:00:941 (317) - . It would be better if you used 1/4 instead (like this).

I think 3.31 is inaccurate star rating with the multiple streams in there :3

Good luck, starred.

Gezoda
shash permissivegezo is here because nwolf asked me to.

[Timing]
00:02:228 - y u no just 5/4 here, would be a bit more correct to me (and wouldn't change anything LOL)

[Kantan]
The kiai appears much intense to me compared to the rest, maybe consider changing 00:43:798 (53,54,55) - to 2/1 - so it gets consistent with the second repeat of the melody rhythm wise.

[Futsuu]
00:02:656 (4,5,6) - I honestly think the pattern is too hard for a futsuu ;_;
00:21:512 (49,50,51,52) - | 00:57:512 (123,124) - Looking at how joyful you are with noting, you might invert the patterns (that means that 4/1 should be at the beginning and 2/1 at the end).

[Muzukashii]
00:16:262 (56,57) - I recommend you to change these notes to kk; one because it's within a pattern and would be pretty close to Oni level and second because the song goes even higher in pitch at that point.

[Oni]
00:04:156 (12) - to 00:17:227 (86) - A bit restless, maybe remove some notes so the difficulty curve is nice and smooth ? We start at 1.5bt pauses in muzu to triplets within these moments. (same goes for the kiai ;_;)
It breaks a bit the spread to me since you have way less breaks in Oni than in Muzu. I'd like to see a bit more so the spread is much much polished wow such rest time so oni much pause. Kind of. But you get the idea. I guess.

[Oni]
pls its not 8* since the original is actually 8* and looks harder lel
01:11:227 (363,364,365,366,367,368,369,370,371,372,373,374,375,376,377,378,379) - wow no originality pls change or nuke jeeukaea *runs* (jk)
the rest seems fine except that I block on the fact that the kiai is still a bit restless ;;

00:18:084 (22,23,24,25) - I had the idea to leave (23,25) out and to make (22,24) to emphasize them more. idk, sounds cooler to me since this actually works like the Kiai but without the Kiai thingy but at least to emphasize here more than the rest.
00:24:941 (30,31,32,33) - ^
00:30:084 (38) - Maybe k? yee, I know that d is simplier but 00:33:512 (44) is k too and I find it quite reasoned why. So....?
00:54:084 (69,70,71,72) - See first suggestion. Maybe this could stay since this is much louder than the previous example. Just let me know what you think.

00:21:941 (47,50,61,124,127,138) - Honestly, they are bad for the reason they play like fillers.. Since these parts are calmer I find less notes are more appropriate.

Adorable Difficulty.

[Muzukashii]
00:35:762 (127,258) - Personal suggestion: I would leave them out because four triplets are quite a lot. As said, just my opinion, not an issue at all.

Another adorable Difficulty.

[Oni]
00:31:370 (141,142) - Switch them, (142) sounds more to be deeper than (141).
01:07:370 (332,333) - ^

This is the best background for a beatmap and I am quite pissed off to not participate on this dinner with meat and cake.... eh, call me back.

So I was debating myself about keeping this bubbled until next December, but I'll go for lolranking on January.

[Kantan]
00:18:084 (22,23,24,25) - I had the idea to leave (23,25) out and to make (22,24) to emphasize them more. idk, sounds cooler to me since this actually works like the Kiai but without the Kiai thingy but at least to emphasize here more than the rest. /*I think I'll just keep the Kantan a bit simpler.
00:24:941 (30,31,32,33) - ^ /*Done
00:30:084 (38) - Maybe k? yee, I know that d is simplier but 00:33:512 (44) is k too and I find it quite reasoned why. So....? /*I'll keep this as a don so the kats in 00:33:512 (40,41) - feels more unique.
00:54:084 (69,70,71,72) - See first suggestion. Maybe this could stay since this is much louder than the previous example. Just let me know what you think. /*Done

Adorable Difficulty.

Another adorable Difficulty.

[Oni]

Additional changes:
Futsuu:
01:12:941 (152) - Removed finisher. This ended up being too loud for me.
Muzukashii:
01:00:512 (212) - Added finisher.
01:12:941 (262) - As in Futsuu.

yay

Just one more thing before I can go for Qualify:

00:00:514 - 00:03:085 - This section looks almost 1:1 between Oni and Muzukashii. I suggest removing 00:00:728 (2,5) to make a noticeable difference but without decreasing the Difficulty much. We also have this problem between Kantan and Futsuu, maybe you could put notes on 00:01:585 and 00:01:799, would connect well to Muzukashii afterwards.

In Muzukashii: deleted 00:00:728 (2,3,5,6,8) - having 1/1 would feel really weird there, so I'll keep the notes on the most emphasized beats.
Keeping Futsuu as it is, could go like different patterns for the same tone, but rather have some consistency.

Updated.
