nope, I'm not directing this to a genre that are full of males doing homosexual things (a.k.a yaoi harem probably)

What i mean is, It's when that MC (obviously male) is a gay but he have girls that are interested in him, making it also harem-themed.

Actually i found this idea from my FB friends, and tbh i never see an anime / manga like that and i think this would be somewhat interesting, If you're tired with mainstream harem. But do tell me if series like this existed though

so, what do you guys think?

Wouldn't it still just be harem tho, it isn't like harems with a perverted protagonist are considered different to those with a stoic one's.
Making any kind of series like this would be risky venture since harems are generally oriented as an escapist fantasy for males and this could potentially alienate target audience members.
Plus homo-erotic comedy already is pretty common between harem protagonists and their butt-monkey friend/s

yes it's still a harem lol.

I do agree that harem is just a genre that's acting as an escapist fantasy for males, but replacing the giga-dense character with a brand new homo character would be a good idea imo. Both have reasons why they can't pick a girl out from their harem, but if he's a homo, that would be better in explaining why he doesn't want / can't choose a girl out from his harem. As mainstream harem sometimes missing out their point, thus making ppl criticize the illogically giga-dense character.

it isn't a must for the MC to have a male friend to prove his homosexuality. It could be expressed in an another way, e.g idolizing male idols, daydreaming about how they do yaoi things, etc.

I'm still unsure how'd you'd keep a situation like this last long enough for a 12 episode duration tho. Do the girls refuse to accept he's gay, Do they accept but pursue him anyway so some reason or is the protagonist unsure of his sexuality?

Traditionally a harem should be a pretty unstable situation and I don't know how such a protagonist would maintain a flock of girls frolicking by his side without making them seem greedy for money or children or whatever

While I don't recall any series where the mc explicitly says he is gay, but series that do have the feel that you are looking for are like Prunus Girl (https://www.mangaupdates.com/series.html?id=41616).

Basically someone easy for girls to approach, but won't do anything to them. However the end result, is probably going to be a lot of girl's talk and won't differ that much from an all female cast imo.

I think it's not that the girls refuses to accept that he's gay tou. It's more like " He don't have any girl that he likes now , so i have a chance! " situation. As for the logic behind it, a straight man can become a gay, so the otherwise could work too. There must have some reasons why the protag becoming a gay ( maybe because of sad experience with ex-gf ). Dense people doesn't have reasons. They're just dense :p

for the most harem series, the protag are just acting nice and they can get tons of girls. You don't have to be a straight to be kind to girls, do you? also some dose of handsomeness will also keep the girls around.

fyi, it isn't have to be the MC says that he's gay. It could be implied with many things as i mentioned above.

also i read the manga's summary, but seems that's not what i am talking about. Will check it though

Except for the gay and harem parts.

And this really links to the implied gay aspect. Fans take things way too far and there are so many examples of two guys/girls hug/hold-hands and the is suddenly a group of people shipping them together regardless take Free or Love live for example. How do you distinguish between an implied but actually gay MC and a harem show that goes off the rails trying to make its audience laugh at the prospect the MC is gay or an extremely effeminate MC etc.?

nope, as i said it's a normal harem. the ideal (for me) would be 1 or 2 males and tons of females.

I don't think i fully grasp what you mean , but would #TeamYaoi (hello fujoshi) #TeamGirl1 #TeamGirl2 etc good enough?

I don't know how you could imply a gay character in any meaningful way.
Piine
This is a brain tripper
Mogsy
I couldn't see this ending up as anything more than a nightmare.
The Gambler
So, while that happens, anyone have ideas for a gay shoutacon twincest scenario? In butler suits if the community permits it ;)

Gay-Harems are best harems.
